Polish, and then some...

Alright, tomorrow I am working on the bird all day. I plan on doing a full exterior detail, but here is the problem. I recently put on a 97 hood, and there are a lot of marks on it and bad touch up paint spots. Is there anything I can use to polish/sand these things off? The marks are just surface things, the touch up places are probly worse. I am wondering if there is something I can use to take this off, then polish it back up shiny, or am I better off using sand paper and then polishing it up? Recommend a procedure please!

Be very careful with rubbing compound. If you do it wrong you can leave a hazy look to the paint.

I need something abrasive...so I'll get some rubbing and some polishing compound to take it back to shine.

laquer thinner and adhesive remover will remove touchup spots without eating the clearcoat
