1997 tbird dash squeak over bumps

Hey there just picked up my 1997 tbird with only 95,000 miles. Cars pretty mint. Just have a small annoying squeak from the top left of the dash right at the corner against the glass area. If I press on it it makes the noise. Also over certain bumps. I think if I could get some foam under there it would stop it but no idea how the dash pad comes up or how to go about doing it. Don’t want to break anything.
Other then that the only thing that makes the odd noise is the loose headrests.
Thanks everyone !

Welcome!

Dash doesn't appear loose does it, wondering if it was removed at one time.

It's not a 97 Sport, it just looks like one!

Other then that one corner where I press and it makes the squeak noise. It doesn’t seem to be loose. It could have been?
It seems like a clip is squeaking where it clips into possibly? If I could wedge something under it it should be fine. Just not sure what parts come up or out easy up there to be able to do that. Thanks !

The windshield defroster vent is covered by a panel that is held in with clips. Under that are several small around 8mm size bolts.

If you unclip that panel it may help you locate the squeak. Be carefull you dont crack the dash removing the panel, and watch out for the windshield when getting to the bolts.

I like to wrap over the clips with tape, they still clip fine but they can’t squeak. Placing stick on weatherstripping foam inside the entire perimeter of big defroster/dashtop panel helps too, I think Ford even applied this solution at dealers when customers complained, I’ve found many cars with it.

It’s not the top cent cover I took it right off and drove it. It’s the main cover under it. I didn’t attempt to remove it as I’m sure it will either break/ cause more issues or who knows. So I just left it. It’s not all the time anyway. Just have to ignore it is 22 years old haha. Have to expect that.
