oh yeah forgot to ask. have the PI valve lips been ground down or are they stock valves? They have to be ground to install the cams in at the 110 intake centerline

yes but the PI valves are thicker than NPI's So I didnt know if they were ground down with a lathe or not. Or if these were ported or something and have oversized valves.

Hitech Changed the install spec of the cam. I believe they say to put them in at 112 or 114 now. Before they were to be installed at 110 but the thicker PI valve caused PTV issues and you have to shave the valves to get the clearance. Since people didn't actually read what hitech said and just went by the horrible information on the internet they ran into PTV issues installing them at 110 degree intake centerline. It's no biggy if I buy the heads alan can machine the valves no problem. I'll let you know. We are working on some issues right now.

Not to mention the unforeseeable items -- broken parts, trips to the auto parts store, bandages for when the head cuts your hand, broken tools, stolen tools/parts...you know, the usual.

yeah... heads cutting your hand isn't fun. I had one sitting up in the garage and accidently backed into it. I turned aroudn and saw it falling and reached out instictively to grab it. That edge cut into my hand DEEEP... crap bled for HOURS. sucked... But I did save the head. so yeah handle with care

Not trying to get off topic but if you shave the valve AND install at 113 the cam will fit with the clearance of a human hair (0.002") At 110 with any valve you are making notches. There are many threads now showing they just don't fit safely, and I have measured a set personally myself to back it up.

These particular cams give me a good bit of replacement valve business BTW, I get calls every week on problems with them and about once a month I send out another set of valves to someone who learned the hard way.

and even then with thermal expansion/stretching of the pistons/rods, that 0.002" is likely to go negative.....piston notches FTW
