Talking WooHoo!!! I Survived!!!

A trip to the local Stealership (Ray Pearman, Lincoln/Mercury)!!!

My LSC needed the cruise control recall performed and everything went smooth as silk.

Monday I called and asked if they had the harnesses. They immediately said yes, which didn't leave me with a warm and fuzzy... Who has been told by someone that they have something only to drive there and hear, “Gee, I thought we had that in stock, sorry…”

Called today before lunch and asked if they could squeeze me in on my lunch break. They immediately said yes.... again, not a warm and fuzzy....

Drove there, pulled up, they pulled the car into the bay, popped the trunk, disabled the air suspension, put it on the lift, unplugged one plug, installed the new harness, dropped it down, turned on the air suspension, pulled it around and handed me the keys.

We both said, "Thanks!!!" and I was on my way within 10 minutes of pulling into their shop!!!

One of the shop managers even commented that he liked the tires/wheels and the Cobra brake setup. His words, “Sharp looking LSC!! Those Cobra brakes really fill up the wheels!”

So now I have a warm and fuzzy and a fixed cruise control.

Much more often it is "Oh sorry, we ordered it but we got the wrong part", but only after they have already removed the original one from your car.

By the way, what wheels do you have on your LSC? I have to decide what I'm going to put on mine.

Also, I have my original OctaStars that will be for sale soon, but they are only 16 x 7's.

And my Dad lives in National Park, NJ, so I could use shipping as an excuse to go visit him. I have no shame when it comes to selling parts...

I'm not a big fan of the octastars. I do like those new wheels you got though. For now, I'm thinking I'll look for a set of 96/97 sport wheels or a set of 35th anny SC wheels for it. I don't mind keeping the 16s, I just don't like the chrome LSC wheels that are on it right now.

I am just surprised that they would bother to do a recall on an 11 year old car.

Vs. possibly getting sued for burning someone’s house down and/or killing them!!!

They recalled many, many FLM cars/trucks for the cruise control problem:

If you own one of these vehicles, you should take it to your Ford delearship to have the cruise control switch replaced. If replacement is not available, have the switch disconnected.

they did my 97 F150(the cruise thingy) , in the parking lot....at the same time, there was a recall for the original lugnuts.....I have aftermarket wheels which use a completly different style lugnut, so they could not put the other lugnuts on.....they just handed me 20 new lugnuts in a bag!

That was my best stealership experiance.

Nick......................I'm back!!!
May you fly low and fast
rest in peace JL

I got a recall notice for my 94 crown vic, which at the time had about 280K miles on it. I laughed at it and threw it away, I figure if it hasn't blown up yet, it isn't going to. That car just refuses to die no matter what i do to it. I've run the car out of oil a few times. I had a heater hose blow and I drove the car 8 miles down the highway with no coolant in the engine. I floor it from every single stop light, bounce it off the speed limiter, and it just keeps going. Putting new parts on that car might make it mad or something, and it might stop working.

The problem with the "if it hasn't burned by now, it won't" is that the design that only shows up over time. Something gets hot and melts and then you have a short. The probelm is that the part that shorts is not fuse protected at all. And it is hot at all times, whether the car is on, off, or whatever.

So 30 years down the line your car could be parked in your garage for two weeks and then catch on fire.

For a free, easy repair (at least on the Gen II's) I think everyone should get it taken care of. Or just don't whine when your car burns to the ground.

My 95 F250 doesn't have cruise control so it can't burn down that way, too bad.
