silverstar ultra

so, the lighting in the cougar sucks, so i went o advance to buy some lights. a lot of people swear by the silverstars. i tried them before in my 93 lx, and was unimpressed. so, i figure i'll dish out the extra money and try the silverstar ultra. still not impressed. granted, they are whiter than the oem 9007's, but far from worth $50 imo. once i find a decent set of 80/100, these are coming out. fyi, the left headlight is new, and the rh is barely cloud covered....i can wipe it clean w/my fingers.

Perhaps it's time to upgrade the wiring to the bulbs as well? I seem to recall others saying it makes a difference in light output. The headlight wiring isn't the greatest on these cars. But i haven't tried it myself yet so someone who's done it will have to chime in...

Is the idea simply to upgrade to a heavier gage wire?

Get a wiring kit. I use a competition limited harness ($49.95) with the 5800K 80/100 Super White Krypton Quartz Bulbs they're only $14.95 for a set. The also offer discounts if you order 3 or more sets of bulbs.

The difference is amazing.

Mods? Yea, I got mods ...

Upgrade the wiring. If you've seen some of the melted junk that goes on inside your dash, you'd really want to do it.

I ran some Silverstars I got off eBay and some cheap Wal-Mart foglights. Almost never needed to use the highs.

Got some Hella headlights for a buddy on eBay. Turned out great. His lights are extremely bright.
