Interesting Facts...

And really sad when you think about it!!

This is one, of many, reasons why I think the human race is comprised of insane people…

Average salaries:

People we expect to be at our beck and call 24 x 7 and risk their lives to save/protect us and our property:

Firefighter: $45,000 http://www.payscale.com/research/US/...Fighter/Salary

Police Officer: $48,000 http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/l...G12000003.html

Paramedic: $37,000 http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/l...C07000189.html

LPN: $38,000 http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/l...C07000004.html

Doctor: $160,000 http://www.payscale.com/research/US/...Degrees/Salary

People we expect to “entertain us” (Seriously, if every person represented in these averages were beamed off the planet, what would the consequences be?):
NFL Player: $770,000 http://content.usatoday.com/sports/f...aspx?year=2007
(21% of which have criminal records… http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...14/ai_53409148)

NBA Player: $4 million http://www.nbpa.com/about_nbpa.php
(40% of which have criminal records… http://www.pacersdigest.com/apache2-...hp/t-3964.html)

MLB Player: $2.8 million http://mlbplayers.mlb.com/pa/info/faq.jsp

Does anyone beside me see anything wrong with these facts?!!?!?!

We gripe and gripe about taxes, but are still willing to pay $$$$ to go see a game played by overpaid criminals (sans apparently the MLB players. ). We will spend money on the equipment, toys, collectibles, etc….(if we weren't spending it, they would not be able to be paid the salaries they are) But complain about raising taxes to get more police on the street….

Yep, we’re insane!!

This post is not meant to start an argument or anything, but just to show some facts that hopefully make people think about priorities.

97 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC (Chip'd, 3.73 T/L... so far... )
97 Ford Aspire (Slow, but getting 36 mpg (f'n Ethenol!! )
84 F250 Dually w/6.9L Diesel (7.3L IDI pending)
73 Mercury Cougar Convertible w/351C 4V (Partially Restored)
69 F100 LWB w/460 Engine
76 Glastron Carlson 23' Jet Boat w/460 CJ Engine

You forgot to add teachers into that mix there. My mom's been in teaching (same district) for 20+ years, and right out of college I'm grossing almost 10k more than her.

Just doesn't quite seem right.

The market pays what the market pays. If we paid doctors that much, how would you expect health care prices to adjust? You wouldn't be happy. And don't suggest the government pays for it, because you know who really is paying for that...

Well, I mean, I don't really expect them to be at my beck and call, I mean, I don't think I could ring 911 and be all, "Hey, I think there's some possums under my porch 'cause my dogs have been barking, what can you guys do about it?" More like, "Hey, my house is on fire, what can we do about that?" And I mean, if my house burned down as often as possums crawl under my porch, I'd be seriously in favor of bumping those salaries up in to the triple digits, but as it stands, it's Possums: 5, Structural Blazes: 0.

Garage
I don't go to or watch on TV any of the "paid to entertain us" games. But plenty do and buy the products they advertise. Most of the players just waste their money.

Lovely indeed. If you ever truely figure out people as a whole, you will know, without question, that you are insane!

Mods? Do the ones in the garage waiting to go on the car count?

Many thanks to my fellow Veterans; I am honored to be a part of your ranks.

We are in a world of crap, what can you do.
I happen to be a fan of some of the things brought by our capitalist economy system, however this is the unfortunate part about it.

Im an aerospace engineer, that works on all sorts of insane projects including the space shuttle and all the new military jets etc. You'd be surprised to know, Im not making that much more than those guys the OP talked about. You gota work your way up I guess.

I was just talking about the salaries of 'civil servants' yesterday. The reason is that we had 2 seriously injured in the line of duty by 2 diffferent criminals in 2 different incidents. One was shot in the head and chest and likely won't make it. The other was drug almost 2000 feet at speed by a suspect that he had pulled over.

Last month we had several firefighters severely injured in a couple of incidents.

We normally have a pretty quiet area here, but recently things seem to have gotten worse. I don't know whether it's just a fluke or a trend.

So you want us to pay more in taxes and stop watching sports?

I know what you are trying to say... but the way politicians are these days, I'm pretty darn happy that baseball players make more than those morons

ha ha, but uhh... I think you took it a little different than I meant it. I never said I was alive when politicians were less corrupt, or if they ever were less corrupt.

But thanks for that.
