My current project....with a DOHC

It started life as a plane jane 240, 3 on the tree, rubber floor mat truck. It was built in San Jose California, and sold there. It was a special order paint truck. My dad bought in Idaho around 1998. He gave it to me in 2004, and it sat on jack stands in dry storage until january 2008 when I had it shipped cross country.

It has a 2007 Grand Marquis front suspension, 2004 Mach 1 32 valve motor with 5 speed trans, and 2003 Marauder motor mounts to bolt it in, and then 2005 Charger steel 17'' wheels. The sub frame bolted right in but I had to cut out the old suspension and box the frame. I used 1/4 steel to box the frame, and to make the lower trailing arm bracket. The frame was painted with Rustbullet silver.

Thanks guys! its been fun to this point. On the list of things to do are, smooth the fire wall, fit the AC box from the Mach1 under the dash, steering column, wiring the entire truck with the Mach1 harnesses, cut up and weld gas tank parts off the Mach1 tank onto a 70 Stang tank, weld up mounts for an IRS (Mark8), custom drive shaft, mount the escape seats, lineX, plumb, and drive!! Im sure i missed a few things in there, but it will basicly be a Mach1 electrical, and pieced together structure.
Pics to follow once I get the mounts for the IRS, and get it mounted in.

I know I had a few offers for independent rears, I will be looking for a good deal in a few weeks, to get it bolted in, a friend wants the 9 inch.

Nice work, looks like it is going to be a fun vehicle when you are done, however from the first pictures I was kinda hoping for a 32v snow blower or lawn tractor.

That's really cool. I didn't know the newer panther cars the front suspension was all one unit like that. That's good to know for future projects, since it looks like you could pretty much bolt that into anything you want and not have to worry about messing up supsension geometry or anything like that.

I like it a lot. I also agree about the front suspension. You could even go as far as putting it on a t-bird (though I do not know if there would be any weight savings).

Soon to have some MHS parts, cams, 'luminum block, lower compression, ported heads, autorotor, and need to make long tubes. I have almost all the stuff and need some #42-50s a bypass valve, and maybe a few other things.

Nice project. You should go check out fordification.com. Great site for 67-72 ford trucks.

Also, don't forget about and explorer rear end. It has a IRS and has the correct bolt pattern. Ha Ha. Didn't think of that one did ya.

Can't wait to see how this turns out.

dablack -- I didnt know that about the explorer, but the brackets that I am getting, allows me to bolt up any FN10 or MN12 rear suspension. No fabrication on my part, just have to square it up and weld it all together. Are the Explorer IRS the exact same as the 10's and 12's, I bet they are not.
I have lurked on the fordification site, but I stick to FTE, mainly the bump side forum. That is where I got the idea to put the panther suspension on my truck, and well, I did some part searching and found the motor mounts. I already had the motor and trans.

the Great Obucina -- Not my garage, a friend of mine was stationed there, that is where his wife is from, hence the flag next to ours.

Just a quick up date. I have had some time away from the truck. Working on my house and driving cross country. I have bought some parts such as: 1970 Stang fuel tank, rear suspension mount brackets, new cab mounts, adjustable clutch setup, cobra hubs and caliper brackets. I will also be getting a ididit tilt steering column, hurst shifter. that should keep me busy for a while. Thats a short list of the big items, there are many little parts in between that im sure I will need to get.

I am working on the trans cross member, and making a single clutch brake pedal assembly from a 72 F100 and a 2004 Mach1 assemblies.

Should I keep posting pics???

Pics are always good.

About the explorer IRS, no it isn't like the bird or mark's but I thought it might work better for you since it is more of a truck type rear. I'm sure the stuff you have will work great.

Also, I think the expedition also has a IRS after 05 or something like that, not sure, and it would be even beefier, but would have the wrong bolt pattern.
