That's where Bizarro world is, Don!!

Ya know, I can almost understand the moon landing "conspiracy" (don't believe it but it's interesting to read sometimes), but this...I laugh in their general direction!

A man may smile and bid you hail
Yet wish you to the devil;
But when a good dog wags his tail,
You know he's on the level.

sigh... is everything a conspiracy now? I do believe the earth is round. If people don't want to believe the moon landing, thats one thing. But the earth being flat, thats just crazy talk. What happens when we hit the edge? do boats just warp to the other side? lol

Wow; I really thought we (as a people) were past this point.

Mods? Do the ones in the garage waiting to go on the car count?

I just can't believe some people still believe this. We have so much to prove against it. And what do they have to say it's true?? NOTHING. I am thick headed also, but even i know that the world is round.

Their forums are a hoot!! Especially the “Angry Ranting” one!!
http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/

And to answer the questions you can read their FAQ:
http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum...&topic=11211.0

Just think, about a couple decades ago, we all scoffed at the idea of using leeches in medical procedures. Now they are an accepted practice. Maybe in 100 years we will come to the realization that the FE’ers are in actuality correct.

The thing I find hilarious is that while everyone bashes them for their hypothesis of the earth being flat, many people completely accept the hypothesis that the earth, stars, human kind, et. al. were created out of nothing by a supreme being/force (Christian God, Buddha’s Karma, Hindu’s Brahma…). So remind me again, who exactly are the crazy ones?

What astounds me is the range of intelligence (or lack thereof) of people. Just think about it this way...Stephen Hawkings and Albert Einstein are the same species as those people! Also if you want to disprove it, you don't even need to go up in a plane, just download google earth and you can see a satellite image of anywhere on the earth that you want. I can see my car in my driveway when I look up my house, so how are they going to fake a satellite image of everywhere in the world to that detail?

The GPS/satellite companies are being paid off, read it in their FAQ.

Just because the graphical representation within the program is a sphere doesn't mean the world is actually a sphere.

Yeah, but how do they get all the pictures of every place on the earth? If satellites don't exist, then they would have to make up all those pictures, and how would they know exactly what your house looks like from above?

I don’t think they ever said airplanes (with cameras) didn't exist.

With as many flights over the country each day, it would be quit simple to take photographs from airplanes and then pawn them off as being from “satellites”… AND not every part of the earth has the level of detail as the more populated areas. Just more proof that they are using airplanes instead of satellites.

And if you think about it, how realistic is it that a satellite 150 to 450 miles above the earth can provide photo’s in such detail. I mean really, that far away and such detail? I find that hard to believe.

I'm reading the forum's that they have. Most retarded thing ever. Like really now. THey are not even arguing. All they say "no, fake, you prove to us the world is round" People post pictures, they claim them fake.

Where's their proof you may ask??? Who the hell knows. They just keep saying no, and that they don't need to prove anything since the world is round.

I just want to go &$^@# slap every one of those people

How do they account for atmosphere in the absence of a gravitational field? I suppose the "ice wall" retains gasses as well.

heh, i like this one in the Q & A...

Q: "What about the stars, sun and moon and other planets? Are they flat too? What are they made of?"

A: The sun and moon, each 32 miles in diameter, circle Earth at a height of 3000 miles at its equator, located midway between the North Pole and the ice wall. Each functions similar to a "spotlight," with the sun radiating "hot light," the moon "cold light." As they are spotlights, they only give light out over a certain are which explains why some parts of the Earth are dark when others are light. Their apparent rising and setting are caused by optical illusions.

In the "accelerating upwards" model, the stars, sun and moon are also accelerating upwards.

The stars are about as far as San Francisco is from Boston. (3100 miles)

I like these 2.

Q: "Why are other celestial bodies round but not the Earth?"

A: The Earth is not one of the other planets. The Earth is special and unlike the other bodies in numerous ways.

---- So what about... other planets. What makes earth so much special than every other planet. Sure it's different compared to stars... but other planets???

Q: "Why does gravity vary with altitude?"

A: The moon and stars have a slight gravitational pull.

Q: Follow-up to previous question: How is it that the Earth does not have a gravitational pull, but stars and the moon do?

A: This argument is a non sequitur. You might as well ask, "How is it that snakes do not have legs, but dogs and cats do?" Snakes are not dogs or cats. The Earth is not a star or the moon. It doesn't follow that each must have exactly the properties of the others, and no more.

--- WHAT???? what does dogs cats and snakes have anything to do with this???? WTF!!!!

Ok... i have to stop reading this again... i'm gonna flip on someone... arg!!!!1!

LOL, that forum is hilarious.

http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum...&topic=22149.0

It's ridiculous, but they have a point. Everyone believes the earth is round, but it's pretty difficult to actually demonstrate it.
