Scored a 96 Cougar. Pics.

Thanks to T6Rocket for the heads up on this one. Drove 5 hours to get her and then drove back. Not many options, only about 50k miles, really clean.

Nice!

So did all cougars get the SC seats, or just the upper level ones?

Those aren't SC seats, they are the standard seats for the Cougar from 94-97. The only Cougars to get SC seats were the 89-92 XR7s, and the 97 30th anniversaries. The others got seats which just have slightly larger bolsters and more padding than the tbird seats.

The patterns are similar to SC seats as well, the rear bench is the same as the non-folddown SC one with integrated headrests. Ironically 94-97 Thunderbird LXs use the 92-93 Cougar XR7 seats

GREAT car - nice score. I guess it would be improper to ask how much you paid for it. Good Luck with it.

Looks really clean. I like the blue full leather seats, wish I had those. My 96 Cougar has the cloth in the middle, leather on outside and top of the seats. On the bright side the cloth middle keeps you planted in the seat when you corner hard... but makes it harder to slide into the car.

White letter tires look cool too

Brenda's 96 Cougar had the same thing, but I always thought it was vinyl, not leather.

It's leather on the seating surfaces, vinyl on the back/sides(same as the full leather coverage). If you look closely you can tell the grain differences where the leather and vinyl are joined together.

Thanks for keeping your eyes open for me. There were about 5 missed deals leading up to this one, including that one in Pensacola.

Glenn, some might be offended by that... It was about $3K. I've been seriously looking for about 2 months and eyeballing prior to that. Most I've seen around $4K have about 120K+ miles on them.

The white letters really set it off. I liked the blue exterior in the pics, wasn't a fan of all the blue inside. When I saw it in person that blue paint is beautiful. The inside is growing on me, I'd like to break it up with another color in there. We'll see.

I say leave it as is, blue interiors are pretty rare in 97 Cougars

If you ever decide to get rid of those seats, let me know!

3k is a excellent price, what other car can you buy with 50k miles and perfect paint and interior for under 3k , their isn't one. I would've paid more for it if it. I stopped paying attention to these guys on this site a long time ago giving people a hard time about paying too much for these cars. I am looking at a couple of cars right now with low miles and perfect condition for $7k-8k .

I absolutely agree and even those cars in the 7 to 8k range still have worn balls joints, vacuum lines, etc.

That is a good looking car, my first MN12 was a Cougar and I really liked it. If it wasn't a rebuilt salvage title car I would've kept it alot longer. Want to sell it OP? Lol

Thanks, but I think I'll keep the smurf for a while. What part of Ohio you from? I grew up in Lorain (alot of family & friends worked at the Ford plant building these cars) then lived in Akron for about 14 years before coming down to NC.

Yeah that car is a keeper for sure, never seen that color before and for some reason I'm partial to blue interiors. I had a SC with blue cloth and a couple others. Im from Cambridge OH about 1 1/2 hours SE of Akron and used to go up that way a lot on my way to Summit for car parts. Where I live now is on the other side of OH. I spent a lot of time in Concord NC working when I was younger, my company put us up in an apartment there for about 4 yes on a long term job and with all this snow flying up here I wish I was back there! Nice car man that's a good score for sure

I lived 20 minutes from Summit, man I miss being that close. Summit was always good too, whenever I stopped in and they didn't have parts in stock, they would drop to my house from the manufacturer at no charge. Usually within 3 days or less.
The paint is just beautiful, really reacts to the sun. The interior is still a little too much blue, but it's growing on me. Definitely unique and loving that.
