i hate stupid people

today, i changed my oil and it took alot longer than expected thanks to my idiot friend. he works at ricerzone and claims to know alot about cars. he became an idiot after he helped me change out my tstat once. he didnt take his time and wasnt careful and the gasket ended up shifting around after he installed the tstat housing. the result was a leaky tstat housing. so i fixed it myself and voila, no more leaks.

so today, he helped me change my oil. i didnt ask him to help me, i guess he was wanting to get his hands dirty, who knows. i had this feeling that he was going to screw something up. sure enough, he tried getting the drain plug out with a standard size wrench after i told him that i am positive that the plug is metric (16mm). so mr. dumb**** ended up rounding off the plug. off to ricerzone we go to get a new plug. we got the old plug out with vise grips, put the new one on, pulled off the old filter, then he screwed on the new one and tightened it with his hands. filled up with oil, fired her up, and oil immediately started pouring from the filter area. mr. retard didnt tighten the filter. i killed it, pushed the car to a dry spot, and under the car i go with the filter wrench. it was very loose when i began to tighten it. about two quarts of oil ended up on the ground. so off to walmart we go to buy more oil and kitty litter to soak up the spilled oil. i told him that i think he should buy the oil and litter since he screwed up, and as i suspected, he didnt. $10 that could have been prevented from being spent. man, i wanted to beat him over the head with a ratchet ok, im done now.

By the time you drug out the step ladder to do that, he'd have figured it out and been long gone.

Are you sure? He couldn't remember to tighten the filter after all.

Using a filter wrench to tighten your filter is way overkill =P hand tightening is more than enough... make sure you put a film of oil on the new filter seal too. BTW a 5/8ths was probly what he used.. it is very close to the metric size of the plug, and it could round it off if not carefull. I used a 5/8ths a couple times when I forgot my metric wrenchs.. (I used to work on aircraft engines, and nothing on those engines were metric... so I have almost ALL standard tools) =) BTW people who work at autozone think they know everything. Some guys who do work at autozone do know their stuff though. (Im not making fun of people who work at autozone.. ) hehehehehhehe

well, the filter was slick with oil, not sure how it got that way, so judging by Lake Pennzoil under my car, he did a half *** job of tightening it. i made sure that it wont leak.

I'd loan it to you, but it would be unsafe. The steps are too high and the handles too far for you to reach. Better luck next time.

one of my friends and I worked at a theater and developed this "attitude" if you will (more like something we'd say when we dealt with an idiot):
"Stupidity is the disease, euthanasia is the cure."

PS-That's why there's only three people I let touch my car (my dad, my mother, and me)

I saw stupid the other day while getting gas. Heard screeching tires, look up and this person was driving on the wrong side of the road. They paniced and jumped the sidewalk. Instead of stopping to wait for traffic to clear so they could get back on the right side of the road, they drove down the sidewalk to the next side street. Down the curb and turned into the mall. What was just as funny were the comments you heard being uttered by my fellow fuel pumpers: "What an a$$hole" "Jerk" "Stupid F" "Douche" "Di*k". Yes it was a busy morning at the fuel dispensing establishment.

Guess the "sale" at the dollar store was hard to pass up.
