T-Bird Land Speed Racer

Does anybody know anything about the Thunderbird land speed racer driven by Mike Cook? It's on page 75 of the January '96 Hot Rod at the bottom, with the caption, "Mike Cook had his big thunderer under the hood of his T-Bird but couldn't get a hold on the wet salt. So his crew installed the little motor and promptly set a new A/BFALT mark with a 239.984 average."

I know of Bob Gribble's land speed racer. Bought some stuff off of him.

This car looks more like a bona-fide Bonneville car than a NASCAR car, though. It's really cool looking: wheel discs, scoop that runs the length of the hood, rear spoiler, tinted windows. It's an '89 that has run 298 mph.

Yeah, like that, but blue, and the rear spoiler sticks out farther.

No kidding? I did "Mike Cook Thunderbird Hot Rod" and got nothing. But yeah, that's the one.

Not much info on that site, though. Pretty cool that the fastest stock-bodied Ford in the world is a T-Bird.

Why shouldn't it be. The Bird has the best drag coefficient of anything they've ever made. WAY better than any Mustang has ever dreamed of. (In thinking, perhaps the GT is now better, but considering it production is a bit of a stretch.)

The Marks were better than the Birds and the Birds were better than the Cougars.

Is that a blower intake sticking though the windshield?
