Ok Shreck Fans...

If you really want to go to Dulac you can. It's in Louisania about 8 miles south of Houma on Hwy 57. I spent the day there working VERRY INTERESTING(to put it mildly).
Welcome to Dulac....you know the tune

I'm guessing Dulac, LA ain't much in the way of a city Also guessing you better speak a little Cajun if you're going to hang out there much.

Talking

Hey now ... there aint nothing wrong with Dulac.
We all "Du' Lac we want".

Yes i was born and raised in Dulac. We are the Houmas Indian Alliance. Nearly everyone down there is Native American. I say "there" because I live in Houma now. Mostly everyone either does some type of commercial fishing or oil field related offshore jobs ie. captains, rough neck, deckhands, etc.
I ran my father 45'x17' trawl boat for many yrs while growing up. I also have crabbed, oyster'd, skimmed, trawled, and only fished for fun. Dulac is about 30 miles along 2 main roads on either side of the bayou with small subdivisions branching off the main roads.
we have even invented new directions, up the bayou, down the bayou, and across the bayou. 4 downed to 3 is a stroke of genius dont yall think.

But honestly, There are many hard working but alchoholic hot headed mofos there. And dont worry ... the women will kick your *** faster than some of the guys. They will look femine but are very hot tempered.

Please feel free to ask anymore questions.
When I was born on I lived on Shrimper's Row pass the Boquet bridge, move to Montegut for a few yrs til Hurricane Juan hit then moved back to Shrimper's Row where my parents still live near the Bobtown Bridge.

Additional ... if yall want to hear some good music straight from Dulac find cajun/zydeco band called "The Treaters" jerry parfait and others. Wifes 1st cousins. They play at my fathers yearly All Hollows Eve party.

Actually its what you'd have to call Cajun French. sort of french and some of our native tongue but mostly french. No I cant speak it, mother didnt teach us bc she had to learn english when she started school, thus, she refused to teach. My father in law, bro in laws, mother, and most older persons know and frequently only speak french. Wife understands mostly but doesnt speak.

Based on a couple of the guys I met in the Army it's not always just French or English either. They used to mix it all in together when they talked, especially when drunk. Took me a while to get my ear around it since all I'd ever heard was classroom French. The accent is way different, like listening to a guy from Brooklyn speaking english.

Yep you are very correct sir. Sometimes they dont know the word for it in "french" so they'll say it in english. Alot are bilingual but most very older only talk french.
