Bachelor's and Married Idiots in here....

taken from this months Maxim: VERY INFORMATIVE AND IMPORTANT...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOW LONG WILL CERTAIN FOODS LAST IN THE FRIDGE OR FREEZER?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beer:

If not exposed to heat, suds will stay fresh at room temperature for 110 days. in the fridge; 9 Months.

Condiments:

Butter is good for a month after opening it (Oops). Barbacue Sauce is good for 4 months. Ketchup and Jelly, 6 months. All in the refrigerater.

Bread:

Lose the WHOLE LOAF even if one slice is moldy. Mold emits myTOXINS that infect areas that look spotless.

Meat:

Most uncooked meat will last only 2 days in the fridge, so freeze it!
Steaks will last 12 months, Chicken will last 9 months, and raw ground meat/burgers, four months.
__________________________________________________ ________________

Some of this would have come in quite handy for me....

Note to self:

Toss butter/Ketchup/and Hamburgers whn get home......Oops....

Hope this helps keep some us not sick......

Dave

What about margarine? That's technically not butter, and I've had some Country Crock for about a year now. (No kidding!)

How long do eggs last? I had some eggs once for about 18 months. I knew they were bad when I threw them out,(VERY CAREFULLY) but they never smelled or anything.

Night was dark, but the sky was blue,
Down the alley, the ice-wagon flew,
Heard a bump, and somebody screamed,
You should have heard just what I seen.

Who do you love?

What about this stuff in the back that's moving?

Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are:
You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

You know what's sad? I will still pour sour milk into a glass and sniff that to see if it is really sour, and not just the smell from the crusty stuff around the cap.

I mean, C'MON ya gotta have milk to make tomato soup! (with only a few exceptions, that is my idea of a cooked meal)

I reccomend a maximum of 110 minutes unless females are involved. In that case-11.0 minutes.

Heh. I'm such a food hoarder or something. I still have part of a container of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter in my fridge which I bought when I moved into my apartment about a year and a half ago.

Maybe it's upbringing. My folks keep ground beef for a year plus, but they have one of their own cattle butchered and it comes home frozen solid. It seems like it keeps just fine for a long time if I leave it in its wrapping and don't mess with it before I'm ready to eat it. (Of course, most folks don't get that, with stores leaving the ground beef thawed...)

Butter will stay fresh for a year in the freezer, and 4 months in the fridge. However, unsalted butter lasts half as long. It doesn't matter if it's Standard, European, or Whey, the salt is what makes the difference.

The green mold (penicillium, I think it's called) is used to make penicillin, so how bad could it be?

Well for someone like my wife or others like her, it may kill them. She's allergic to penicillin.
