Australian Ford's

Ok I'm sure theres a perfectly good reason for this other then the Obsession with the fagstang. Why can ford build and produce awesome sportscars and export them to australlia. I mean a six speeds for god sakes. a Turbo V6, and they didnt even forget the ricers, they built an all-wheel drive turbo focus. Is it emissions or am i just completly missing something?

because they arent built and exported to australia, the FPV branch is domestic market for them.

It's been discussed before:
http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.p...ford+australia
http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.p...ford+australia
http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.p...ford+australia
http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.p...ford+australia

IMO, It's Ford not wanting to cut in on the Rustang sales. If they wanted to sell them here, they could. Personally, I'd KILL to have a GT-P.

And you can get an Explorer here in the good ol' U.S. of A if you so desire...the Falcon is built down under.

EDIT: oops...it's the GT-P now...tranny options are the T-56 and a ZF Auto 6 with sequential shift...very cool...also a nav system available.

there is a difference between exported or made for export vehicles and vehicles made specifically for a market. like the FPV in the australian domestic market.

...here's a GTP

I think it's obvious which one you'd rather have...

Also, you could import one, but the right-hand drive would get annoying when you hit the McDonalds drive thru.

Good movie

the GT-P is an awesome car. If I looked up the conversions right, that 5.4 DOHC is somewhere around 390-ish horsepower and 380-ish ft-lbs of torque. Not too shabby out of something that looks like a family sedan and has the engine out of a navigator. Downside, it costs around $50k+ You'd probably be looking at 80k+ to get one to the states (not to mention the headaches of importing it).

Fastbird232, is that a pic of your car or a generic pic of a GTP?

I always kinda liked the GTP's of that style.

This is the main point people seem to over look. I don't think you would find many people willing to fork that kind of money over for a hopped up Falcon. Especially when for around $40K, you'll be able to hop into a supercharged 5.4 4V Cobra.

Fords gonna have to offer something like that. They have nothing to compete with the Grand Prix or the Charger. Whats that new one the Fusion? Ya, that car just screams excitement.

GT0 2 doors - GT-P 4 doors

Also the GTO is based on an Aussie product

Whatever, believe what you want. Ford will NEVER have ANY car that will even come close to competing with their precious Mustang. (Not including exotics either such as the GT) Why do you think Ford hated the Thunderbird so much? When I even think about Fords obsession with their Mustang, I want to

I wish I could understand why they are so obsessed with the Stang. Its hasnt been a big seller for a long time. Its a niche car, there isnt enough space in it to be useful. Its a good car to get people into the showrooms, but they gotta offer something that people will buy. Something like the GT-P, without the 40K price would be perfect for Ford. Ditch the 5.4 and offer a 4.6 in the 25-30K CDN range and theyd have a hit.

Id love to just walk into Ford HQ with their new lineup brochure, walk right up to the CEO, hit him right upside the head with it and ask what the **** are they on.

In a couple of words . . . hell no.

The only thing I'd own out of the ford line-up is an F-150 (the super-duty truck don't do it for me anymore) and the Fusion. The owner of the dealership took me for a ride in the one he "borrowed" from the lot while they were cleaning his. Not a bad little runner, decent gas mileage, and enough room for me to be comfortable (6'+change and 250-ish pounds). I got to drive an F-150 recently and it was pretty nice, but the Nissan and Toyota pickups are coming up in the rear-view fast. Other than those, Ford has nothing IMO. They killed off one of their best sellers. now that they don't have the monopoly on the police market anymore with the vic, they're starting to slip (I'm seeing a lot more impalas on the road now). Not looking good

So you suggest something like the GT-P (which by the way converts to over $61,000 canadian) for less than half of that price?!? Humm, that 5.4L 4V is one expensive mother. Hell, let's ask for 2/3 off the price while were are at it.

They could offer the GT-P with the 4.0 as a base (and cheap), the 4.6 3v as a performance version, and the 5.4 4v as the SVT model. That would allow them to compete with the Impala SS/Grand Prix GXP and the Charger RT/300 SRT-8. Win/win situation!
