PSP cool stuff thread...

Alright, I know some of you are hip to the scene with the PSP. Let myself and those like me in on it! What are some of the things you can do?

I'm assuming you're asking because you already have one? OR did you want a features/benefits write up on one? lol.

Yes, I have one, I just don't know what to do with it! Aside from the obvious of course. I just know that it sucks that it doesn't support .wma audio, because most of my library is .wma. I'm just trying to get an idea of some of the cool stuff you can do with one. I've got wireless at my house, too.

finally figured out how to run emulators on this thing. it really makes this a nice little handheld now, especially with the lack of games out for it right now. i also found out you can run umd's off of your memory stick. anyone tried that yet?

You just dump, or find someone who has nicely packaged the UMDs up as a file to drop and drag on to your stick. Thats all there is too it.

Watch out for some of the games in the store that force you to upgrade the firmware inorder to run them though. Eliminates all the fun you have with the homebrew software.

tip for those that want to do this, i would just go ahead and buy the 4gb harddrive thats out for the psp right now. umd's can only hold around 1.8gb of space so your set for all games space wise, and 2gb sticks cost as much as the harddrive right now. or keep an eye out for nice deals on 1gb sticks, but you cant fit some games on them.

in case you were wondering, you cant run the good games yet (socom, gta, or anything that requires 2.0 firmware) as there is no program that runs on 2.0 yet.

actually, for 2.0 get fanjitas eboot loader. It plays most homebrew apps.

www.fanjita.org

I'm playing SNES, Genesis, Gameboy and Nes on 2.0 right now.

Its nice cause I can have my custom wallpaper and the web browser while still enjoying the emulators.

MAKE SURE IF YOU DO UPDATE THAT IT IS 2.0
DO NOT GET 2.01 OR 2.5 OR 2.6

you are aware you can downgrade from 2.0 to 1.5 right? so you can get all the psp games that run on 1.5 for free, and upgrade to 2.0 to play the other ones like gta.

yea, I did that once. I didnt like 1.5 very well. I went back to 2, and using the Eboot Loader I play all the games I want, so its not a problem for me
