Another Round of Ford Recalls...

Pulled this off the AP wire...

AP-MI--FORD RECALL<

FORD RECALLING SIX MODELS BECAUSE OF BATTERY CABLE<

WASHINGTON (AP) _ FORD IS RECALLING ABOUT 220-THOUSAND VEHICLES
FROM THE 2005 MODEL YEAR.
THAT COMES AMID CONCERNS THAT A BATTERY CABLE WAS RUBBING
AGAINST THE VEHICLE FRAME, POTENTIALLY CAUSING FIRES, AND THAT A
FUEL TANK STRAP COULD SEPARATE AFTER LOGGING TENS OF THOUSANDS OF
MILES.
THE RECALL LINKED TO THE CABLE INVOLVES MORE THAN 98-THOUSAND
FORD CROWN VICTORIA, LINCOLN TOWN CAR AND MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS
SEDANS.
FORD SAYS IT'S RECEIVED FOUR REPORTS OF FIRES.
A SEPARATE RECALL CAUSED BY THE SEPARATION OF FUEL TANK STRAPS
INVOLVES MORE THAN 123-THOUSAND FORD FREESTYLE CROSSOVER VEHICLES,
FORD FIVE HUNDRED SEDANS AND MERCURY MONTEGO VEHICLES.
THE AUTOMAKER DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM DURING DURABILITY TESTING
OF A FUTURE MODEL OF THE FIVE HUNDRED AT VERY HIGH MILEAGE.

geez. i thought they tested to discover problems before they went into production

If your exhaust tip is larger than your cylinder bore, then you are a Ricer.

Nah, that requires forethought.

It seems like this is a problem with all of the manufactuers recently, not just ford.

They do testing but everything is compressed time wise so some things just aren't found until they are put into the real world. You'd be amazed at how many prototype vehicles they go through during developement.

Recalls happen. They will fix it free for most people. At least they let the public know, didn't Mitsubishi keep records back that would make them recall their cars a few years back.
