Two options. You can make a manual 2nd gear pull which will give you some pretty skewed torque numbers down low, but the most common practice is to get it up to where it won't downshift to 1st and just floor it. You can't take it up above the 3-2 downshift point to lock it into 3rd to do a pull unless you're already tuned to remove the top speed limiter.
