Seems like those GM employees really can't complain. I guess it really depends on how long this they get the money.

Why pay them to not do anything? Even though there are no cars for them to build, GM instead could pay them to do community service, clean up the city, run a soup kitchen, something like that.

They do. GM provides several people for united way to use in our area. Some work in museums etc too. The rest sit on their butts at the plant and watch TV though.
