My first time to go to the drag strip

went to my first run ever at a drag strip at hrp

best RT .112

best 60' 2.295

best 1/4 mile 14.611

best speed 98.29

this was done on crappy tires and with the bad need of an alignment and this being my first time to ever drag race

The tech articles on tccoa which discussed racing tips helped me out alot

im installing a aluminum drive shaft a tranny cooler fixing my front end suspension and getting better tires for my non-sport wheels, hope to get into the low 14s

next time ill try and post videos

sry about the lifestory

Thats a pretty good time. your 60 foot is killing you but thats most likely a stock converter and bad tires combination. Glad you had fun.

the stall is stock(along with the rest of the drive train) and i have Douglas tires

I did the 1-2, 2-3 shifting and it spun out when i did that but it got me my best 60' but i got a .413 rt that run

I tried turning OD off to see if that helped but didn't IMO

for drag racing, the stock stall is junk, but you already know that. the tires well that has to change too, but you know that too.

do you have a tune for the car? if not you should look into that too. if you do have it tuned, you should probably just leave it in "D" and 'stab and steer' as some say. just watch the tree and go and let the computer do the shifting for you.

OD on vs off makes no difference, all it does is either allow the trans to shift into 4th gear or not shift.

I knew about the tires and the stall

I have a tune on the car at the moment almost a must with the pi swap

To me leaving in in "D" was the best i have to agree with you on that

I want to try and find some wheels i can put some MT streets on with my lug pattern

or will i have to convert to a mustang lug pattern

im going to go 3 73 with a 3800 stall

i was wondering if i got a sway bar like the one you have for the rear if i get better traction

Ive been wanting to do the same suspenion set up as you trunkmonkey (cept keeping the sport springs)

I ran alot of times i wanted that 14.5 before i left i started to get that drag racing additction

i think i may need to chunk these stock brakes soon

I want some street radials Vic for the back??
and for the front what would i get??
Wouldnt the tread in the middle of the tire wear down easy for such a wide tire?
I think im going to do a search

Nah, the bigger sway bar is more for canyon carving than traction inducement at the dragstrip. RobertP is still running his stock swaybar on his car and turning in high 11's and low 12's with his car.

Thanks for the compliment on my suspension set-up.

Nice times dude , with 4.10's I got a 14.47 with my first and only run at the qtr mile. I think I could have gotten a 14.2 or.3 with my best times . How are those cams working for you ,looks like you have a few more hp than me with stock pi cams ?

I believe you have a 13 second car there with gears and a converter. Possibly only a converter and some good tires.

street radials come in a 255 i think. for the front, ive got a 165r15 on a weld pro star wheel. if your running stock style wheels, get a 205 50 15 or whatever the narrowest tire you can put on the stock wheels.

about the tread in the middle of the tire, if you keep the air pressure at the correct pressure you wont have an issue.

LOL! That is awesome.

I'm with Zach about it being a 13 second car with just a little work.

I was seeing 1.9 60ft's with 255x45x18 Toyo Proxy ST's.... The ST standing for Sport Truck Say you get tires and a good drivetrain stup, and can match my 60ft, that's a 14.2 with the time difference alone. Obviously, you'd be moving quite a bit faster at the 60ft mark too, cutting the time even further

I gotta replace the tie rod bushings and tie rods cause thats causing my tires to get eat up real fast

for now cheap tires til that is fixed then im gona get an extra set of wheels to put some street ETs on them

after i get my aluminum driveshaft in and installed im going to get things straight on my car

ill probably do a run after i install the driveshaft and replace the fuel filter just to see the difference and post the times up

On my car at HRP there is a .4-.5 second ET swing between the dog days of summer {just past} and the cooler months that are approaching.

In Feb or march our ETs would be roughly .4 quicker than they were in July and August.
