New best ET in 91 Supercoupe

At the KY HP fall shootout in Clay City KY this past weekend I ran a new best (without nitrous) of 10.92 @ 126.70 with a full interior including the factory spare tire and jack.

Here are a few pictures.

WOW nice ET. You have an awesome SC. Did you drive it to the track? You should add some subs and amps to add some weight so you dont get it in the 9s so easily. Plus nothing says full interior like a loud stereo.

Spinning pies like wheels.

Now with new ball joints...again

Thanks...The track was 383 miles from home, so it was trailered. I might replace a couple of the blown out stock speakers, but that's about it. This car won't ever see 9s, but I expect my 93 SC (v8 turbo) to get there the next time I race it.

I didn't think they would allow you to run w/o a rollbar, battery relocate etc in that kinda bracket?

Car was only NHRA legal for running 11.50, but since this thing in KY was a private track rental by a car club, the NHRA safety rules were not strictly enforced.

Correct...that was with a 3.8 motor, 1.7 AR blower and 100 HP shot of nitrous in perfect race conditions with my buddy Chris Wise driving. After blowing up the motor in 2009 I sold the nitrous system, had a new 4.2 motor built and got a bigger blower. Here's a video

I'm trying to see if I can equal the 10.68 ET without using nitrous and me driving the car.

I might to be able to get into the 10.7s if everything went right with weather and track conditions, but don't really think it's possible to do 10.6s without more power or less weight.

I weighed the car a couple days ago.

With me in the car it weighed 4130#
Minus 93.5# for race wheels & tires vs street wheels and tires.
Plus 15# for laptop, helmet and fuel burned since racing.
Raceweight= 4051.50

I'm not really interested in doing all the stuff needed for a signifigant weight reduction to the car. Since I won't be racing it more than once or twice a year, because I have no plans to install a roll bar, I would be more likely to increase HP instead of reducing the weight.

The limiting part of the current combo seems to be the MP FMIC. I can increase boost just by doing a pulley & belt swap, but air charge temps get too high at that boost level. So the next change will most likely be to a larger 4" thick front mount intercooler or a custom air to liquid IC system.

Thanks Bruce. Sometimes like this fall it's double the fun, but usually it's just double the headaches. I think messing with these cars is a great hobby, that I get to share with a great bunch of people, so no matter what happens to the cars, I'm still having fun.
