New best ET for UnderBird...

Well I took my '91 N/A V6 AKA UnderBird out to MIR in Maryland for Imports VS Domestics to see what she would do after I removed the door panels, center console and had a custom exhaust done the day before....I was there with Chris V. and his father Sherman...can't thank Chris enough for helping me drop my times down. So here are the time slips...beat my previous time of [email protected]
1st run on Saturday was made in full street trim...pass. side seat was in,spare tire and no skinnys-
R/T:409(I sleep at the light lol working on it though)
60':2.286
330:6.866
1/8:10.654
mph:65.06
1000:13.924
1/4:16.705
mph:80.88

2nd run on Saturday (removed pass. seat and had skinnys on the front)
R/T:404
60':2.278
330:6.812
1/8:10.535
mph:66.17
1000:13.751
1/4:16.480
mph:82.57

3rd run on Sunday(same as 2nd run)
R/T:.231
60':2.264
330:6.773
1/8:10.484
mph:66.40
1000:13.696
1/4:16.428
mph:82.49

I had a great time at the track and I was very happy with my times... I really need to work on my R/T's though :-/ lol oh my last run was 1st round bracket and lost. I ran a [email protected] on a 16.35 dial in...the woman I raced dialed a 16.19 and ran [email protected] for the win. I had a 16.40 on my window before we ran but the weather changed and I thought I could run close to 16.35(had 16.40 on my window before I changed it) eh, oh well. I'll have my 8.8 with 4.10's, fiberglass hood and trunk by next season so hope to see 15's

Only a second slower than a stock 4.6 Still cool to see people try to make the NA 6 faster. It seems like whenever a member here tries to get their NA 6 bird into faster ETs something always comes up.

The exhaust sounds good too. I don't think it came out well in the video's, still haven't transfered them to the computer , tho.

I'll keep pushing him to keep whittling down them times. He almost gave up when it was idling funny and the check engine light came on. He brought it over I gave it a quick look and found a vacuum line busted. Fixed that and all was good.

Think next year we'll get him to throw some N2O at it.

Really that's about as fast as a stock 94/5 4.6 or a 91-93 5.0, give or take a few tenths. Definitely a good achievement with a N/A singleport.

Thanks guys ! I really want to see just how far I can go with the singleport...we all know I could do a motor swap to run faster but let's see how fast she can go with a few more mods! I plan on losing more weight and like Chris said...add some nitrous =) I am also thinking about doing a nice turbo setup ...we will see I think my next mods will be installing my 8.8,trackloc and 4.10 gears, chip with a good tune and ported '94/'95 manifolds. I think I will be in the low to mid 15's next season, well I hope to be lol.

Bone stock my 95 4.6 car went 16.20 repeatedly.
As long as you are having fun with it don't worry about it. It will slowly get faster as you do more to it. You actually have the best chance of making money bracket racing with a 16 second car because they are usually consistant.

Yeah she has been pretty damn consistant this year... Chris V was also telling me to hit you up about a stall converter for my bird. My goal is to hit 14's with the singleport and as far as I know nobody else here is racing a '89-'93 V6 N/A. I want to set a record for the fastest one...think I can do it with the help that I have. I thought I was going to build up my '89 SC but now I'm really into my '91 bird lol.

just for reference, my 95 with a panel K&N, and chopped off mufflers(with tips added back), and added weight(race weight of 3940), it ran consistent 15.80's.

Nick......................I'm back!!!
May you fly low and fast
rest in peace JL

And I've got 16.0 out of my 93 5.0 K&N filter no weight reduction. Prolly could have got a high 15 at a better track.

Would love to make it to the track but I keep breaking things. Seriously would love to know numbers for my car stock but its too late for that. There is no reason a stock 95 v8 cant break into the high 15s.

A 3.73 traction lock and the converter you have should make mid 15's. Peglegged you'll never break 16's

R/T: .020 R/T: .240
60':1.128 60': 2.280
330: 3.215 330: 6.778

I had a great time once again racing the UnderBird and look forward to the last test&tune next Sunday at MIR....Maybe I will get a 16.00 or so after I remove some more weight Chris V tweaked my TV cable so the trans would shift quicker and I have to say, it REALLY helped. This guy knows his shi* lol. Look for UnderBird next season...Mid 15's with a singleport (I hope)
