90 351ho Ss #12 race season 2012

Hello

So I worked on my stock car today.

I need to replace the upper rad cross bar.
Well I went to Home depot, bought 2" angle X 6'

Was looking at the bent up mess of the stock bar.
Got my step drill & started drilling spot welds.

First I was going to do 1 side. Not too bad.
So I went to the other side that wasn't as bad.
Got to a point where the thing wouldn't let go!?
So out came the SAWZAL!! Little cut here, then here & THEN HERE ...
A couple of BANGS with the big hammer & chisel. She is off!

9th

Hello

Well I finished 9th
the car was under prepared.
different front springs & sway bar
No practice, got to track late.

You know first race day problems.
Getting the lights on the trailer to work.
putting on the front tires and they are pointing at each other
finding the New helmet
finding places to put the extras in a new truck (Explorer)
Air in all tires, get spares - not at home

week 4 -- RAIN

Well we got rained out

Gave me time to fit my New wheels. up front that is.
Not just a bolt on.
wheel rubbed on the bracket around the caliper.

I also had to pull the fender out. rebolted to the outer edge.

I still have to pull some of the weight I added to the rear of the car.
I have skate/push condition.

Those wheels are pretty sweet. Sounds like the past few weeks have been rough though!

Let us know what happens when you lose the rear weight!

Broke again

Well I gutted my RF wheel. Ripped right off the car.
Dropped on my new rotor!

the wheel also mangled the fender.

Every time I came out of the corner the car would BANG - JUMP.

I thought I broke the sway bar link. And was hitting the ground.

I have the front all apart. Adding Camber!

Another 10th More problems!

Had to change the LF spring at the track. So out came the Bilstein, in went the KYB.
I needed A bigger spring.

I also disconnected the rear swaybar. The car bucked & bounced out of the corner.

Now it's loose under braking & pushes coming out.

So I will be putting in lighter rear springs.

6th!! 8-11

Well I finished a good 6th
Long 50 lap race. She is still running hot. hit 240* on a cool night
going to try to box the nose in better.

Car still not right but better than last race.

Biggest problem was loose out of 2
Plus to much caster. she over turns going into the corners.

Nose is also to low. I am rubbing in the corners.

Well Not a great finish, 11th

new fan and bigger jets did not work. she hit 270*
car was hissing at me for an hour at least!!

Was almost taken out mid race.
Guy was pushing out of turn 4, I got under him.
He blasted me sideways. I was headed for a dividing wall sideways.

dropped her in to low, got to turn down the pit lane

still loose - push condition
still leaking from rear main.

Damn man, your having a hard time with that car.

The wheels, are they stock metric pattern or did you do something to get the typical 5x4.5" ford pattern??

hi I'm kinda new so i'm trying to get my thirty posts in lol just wondering if i'm right in assuming, a 351 is the 5.4 right? i know mine is a 281 ci. (4.6L) i eventually want to put a 5.4L DOHC in my tbird. i wont be able to afford that for a while though :/ when i do though, i want to do it right. i'm gonna have the pistons shaved, the timing advanced, the works. my next step is taking out the 2.73 gear and replacing it with a 3.55 probably. no higher than that. i dont really care to go up to a 4.10. i'm not trying to drag race, just want a little more go lol and then lightening the body up. eventually want the whole outer shell composite. any other suggestions to get max acceleration?

thanks guys

Brandon
