Took the SC to the track...

So I met up with our local mustang club this past Saturday and we all drove out to Mason Dixon Dragway together. I made 8 passes in my stock '89 SC 5spd with a messed up shifter so I had to granny shift it. Traction was also an issue for me... excuses, excuses right? lol Anyway, here is my best run:

60 : 2.269
330 : 6.555
1/8 : 10.158
mph : 67.77
1000 : 13.158
1/4 : 15.705
mph : 89.65

Eh, here is my worst run :

60 : 2.593
330 : 7.224
1/8 : 10.964
mph : 65.36
1000 : 14.095
1/4 : 16.759
mph : 84.47

I had a lot of fun taking the SC down the track though my first run this guy in a newer Mustang GT/CS had REALLY bad traction and hit the wall at about the 1/8 mile mark. He was ok but his right real quarter panel had a nice dent in it along with a bent exhaust tip. I was ahead of him the whole time so I guess I got lucky because he could have hit me which would have sent us both into the wall most likely.
I plan on using my slicks and skinnys the next time I take the SC to the track...would also like to buy a B&M shifter also but will have to wait. I need to pay off Chris V for getting the SC on the road.

It was good seeing your there. You did better with each pass during the day. Congrats on the runs. Now get some drag rubber on that thing.

Thanks guys... Steve it was awesome seeing that cougar beat up on some stangs! That was the first time I have seen your car in person and it's just bad ass. I was taking it easy on the track for the most part but looks like my 3rd gear syncro is goin. I'll run my slicks after I get the trans fixed and have my 8.8 looked at. Hell the car has almost 200K on it so I was shocked I even hit 15's.
We need to get a group together and hold our own track day at Mason Dixon or even MIR !

Thanks for the kind comments!

Yes, you should certainly get those things fixed before using sticky tires. Maybe next time at one of those NVMC events I'll stick you in the car and see how you do with it!

I'm hoping we can get a rental together for SB in August. We'll see how that all pans out.
