Fun Ford Weekend at Virginia Motorsports Park

So far, I've only managed to run a best of 15.148 at 91 mph. A few runs were 15.6-15.8. I have this intermittent problem where at around 5,200, it'll act like someone let off the throttle. Other runs, I have full power. I have not been having any traction issues. I'm kinda disappointed. I should be running in the mid to upper 14's. Fuel filter is new as is the 255lph fuel pump. No trouble codes present. I dunno what the heck is going on.

Track conditions & Density altitude could have something to do with it. I know its warm out but not terribly bad up here but not sure what it is there.

The other problems I'm not sure of.

Hope all you guys do well. I know several of the Mid Atlantic boys are down there playing today! Wishing you all luck.

Well, ran a better time tonight. I wish I had brought my laptop so I could data log these runs. Hindsight is 20/20. Here is my best and worst time slip. Black_Cat is car 07 in my worst slip and his best. I'm car # 7531.

Your 60 ft was better on the last run and I'm sure the conditions were as well. So it should have picked up some on the later passes.

Were you shifting the car at all manually or with the OD button still on? The 1/8 split difference on those two passes were horrendous between MPH and ET. 3 MPH difference in the 1/8 is redicules. Something was going on for sure.

Good job to Keith and Chris!!!!! How did all you guys do in the brackets?

I left it in D with O/D turned off. I won the first round in my bracket, but got eliminated in the second round because I red lighted...didn't hold the brakes hard enough.

Congrats Keith! That's pretty close to your all time best (at least the one that's listed in your signature) ... I think that's your current best.

I ended up running a 14.94 @ ~93mph and was consistantly running 14.9 or 15.0. Overall very impressed with the setup as far as price/fun amount lol.

Thanks Ron, I ran the 11.15 in Dec. 2010 with 40 degree temps, last Dec. I managed an 11.19 with 50 degree temps and the rollbar. I would say that if I have the same set-up this Dec. I might get into the 10's but we'll see. My hot weather times are definitely way better than previous years so that's a good sign. I'm patiently awaiting the arrival of the 2.3 Whipple........................

If it pushed you through the brakes then I'm assuming you were on the brakes and trying to come up against the converter!! You may have been staged too deep to begin with or had the RPM to high for the brakes to hold it. Might want to back it down a couple hundred RPM at the line when you do that.

Regardless, looks like you and the rest of the clan represented well.

Congrats to all.

I believe the winter mods helped that and insured you have plenty of fuel. Looks like you are getting better consistant 60 fts and of course driving helps get experience with it too. I don't believe you have pulled that good of a 60 ft before have you. I thought your previous bests were like 1.58 or so?

Regardless, it seems to be working. You should be in good shape to put that car in the 10's come fall on a good track and good conditions.

I think everybody that went to VMP Saturday had a great time, I know I did. I was able to get my SC to run a best of 14.832 @ 93.47 with a 2.084 60'. I pretty much ran low to mid 15's that day but wish I would have brought my slicks...only used my skinnys. Now I need to decide which car to race at Summer Blast.. SC or the UnderBird

'89 SC 5-speed SCP down tubes,muffler delete [email protected](sold) '94 Rose Mist Lincoln Mark VIII..Custom downtubes,muffler delete,gloss black cougar rims.(Now lives in my '91) '91 Thunderbird
V6 AKA The UnderBird.... cone filter, Custom down tubes to highflow cats, magnaflow muffler to turndowns in the middle of the car(LOUD), Vogtland 1.6 springs, poly bushings, '89 SC seats, '95 bird Sun visors, '95 bird radio, Chrome '97 sport rims with 255/55/16's... [email protected](mid 14's now)(skinnys, removed pass. seat, door panels and center console and advanced timing)

I'm talking with my tuner and I'm getting ready to do some data logs so we can see what's going on with my setup. With all the parts that have been replaced on my car, there's no reason why it should be falling on it's face, intermittently, at 5000 rpm.

I ran a best of 11.06 at 123. was runnin 11.0-11.1 all day. DA was pretty good 1000ft pretty much all day.

I wish I had the go pro looking out back for my 2nd round. Dude broke something and was all over the track. Don't think he hit the wall tho. Thank god I was out about 1/4 track before he launched. I looked in the mirror to see where he was and I see smoke and flames everywhere. Dad did get it on the video camera.

Made it to the 4th round 5 cars left. And slept on the tree but car didn't run my dial anyway due to a hot lap.

Third round was my favorite. 9 second car up against me, bragging about a .009 light in a previous round and was hoping for the bye if there was to be one. And I guess he didn't think he had to hit a super duper light against the little ole t bird street car. So we stage, lights are coming down and I nail it. Thought it was a decent light. Get about half track and I'm lookin in the mirror to see where he's at, He's comin hard so I never lift, bout 1000ft he aint there yet so I keep the foot in it and stab the brakes right before the line, just beating him to the line.

See my win light come on and shout out my victory cry! Pull around to the booth and get my slip. .014 light run [email protected] on a 11.10 dial to his .061 light and [email protected] on a 9.19 dial.

Nice meeting the VA beach dudes.

Awesome Chris!

Gotta love that wow! What a great win. I'd like to see that video!

Almost better than your 12.11 run on a 12.0 dial against Steve. LOL

I was just looking at that run last night. I think you hit the brakes somewhere between the 1/8th mile and the 1000 ft mark. You were sandbagging so much.

I'm going to use it in my Summer Blast XI promo video.

Look for it soon!

The reason I was dialing slow at SB was my IATs were getting to 170 and I didn't feel like cooking a piston. So when I saw 16x on the computer I would let out and just cruise the rest of the way.

Unfortunatly Dad didn't get the very end of that pass when I stabbed the brake.

I see. Yea, it was hot that day, no doubt about that; and you guys were running at the end of the day (hottest time of day).

I did get the end of that pass. I should have that video up by tonight.

It was fun for sure!!!

I stayed in it hoping he would break out. It was close. But considering running on the street tires I was happy with it.

Lot of us boys have done a considerable amount of side by side racing including driller and me on the motor lots of times LOL!

Its fun running Siska too though its just interesting to watch how quickly it can leave you ROFL!!!! Me and his bullitt have had a few side by side runs too on motor!!
