What do you pay for track day

OK, so this driving bug is getting bigger everyday. Now I find out I don't live not too far from VIR Raceway. Youtube has tons of videos of folks taking there sports cars all the way to grocery getters around that track. I'm game for that. Be a cool way to have fun and not worry 'bout getting a ticket. The one thing I did not find was the cost? I know about insurance, even about track insurance, but what is the average cost of a day at the track as far as track fees, inspections and so on??? Anybody know????

Expect to start at $100. Well never mind this is how they do it:

Getting On The Track | Virginia International Raceway

About 10+years ago I looked to Road Atlanta at for a weekend Friday-Sunday was $15k. Thing to remember this is when Panoz owned not NASCAR.

Everything is more expensive in CA.
I think I spend $250-275 in fees for a track day that a friend sets up at Thunderhill. It's invitation only so there's less drivers but I believe this pricing is similar to other events.

You can check out all the publically joinable events here (I just picked a town in central VA and did a search for events within 300 mi).

PS. If you are street driving your car to/from the event, it doesn't hurt to add AAA gold and/or similar to your insurance just in case you have to bring your car home. having that in place could save you a $$$$ tow home.

In North Carolina it's like $10 or $25 a day for a test-n-tune run whatcha brung day at the track.

I've run at the Fayetteville Dragway, Z-max and Rockingham Dragway all for about this price.

He's talking more road course type venues Ron, but yeah expect to pay a good penny to go around VIR. I have plans to take my Cougar around it a few times once I get it buttoned up one day.
