2008 will be my third year for the SHOOTOUT. And Dave and the committee have added two classes for the V8's if there are enuff cars to fill them.
9) V8 Power Adder:

Engine:
OE block Ford V8 engines only. One power adder only.

Body:
All MN12/FN10 body cars eligible. Body kits are allowed. All factory glass and body panels must be present. One headlight may be removed.

Suspension:
Stock style U/L control arm, fully independent 4 wheel suspension design. Upgrades and modifications allowed.

Tires:
Unrestricted.

Index:
12.000 ET

10) Outlaw:

Engine:
Must be Ford based motor. Exhaust unrestricted. Power adders allowed.

Body/chassis:
Must be an MN12 or FN10 body and chassis. Valid license and insurance not required.

Suspension:
Unrestricted

Tires:
Unrestricted

Index:
Unrestricted.

My car has consistently been the slowest car there, mostly because the driver sucks. You will not find a better place to go to celebrate the MN12, no matter which model you have. Just be sure to make all your plans early, bring what you need , and have fun.

So true. My Bad. Must be that Canadian beer. Just hope we get some in the other classes. Just seems a shame to have some of those screamers running bracket with slow a*s cars like mine.

We plan to be there as usual. Hopefully there will be enough people next year to run the V8 power adder class.

Come on out, this event gets better every year!! I've been to all of them, except the first year in St. Louis ... I thought it was too far to drive. Two years later I was driving to Oklahoma City for it.

cheers

I wanted to attend in 2007 but the car wasn't running yet. Will definitely aim at making it in 2008!

Now, about that 12.0 index V8 power adder class: would a fiberglass cowl hood disqualify me?

Answer to my own question - per David Dalke of the SC Shootout staff:

"Actually what that means is that you have to have a hood, bumper, side
windows, etc., but they can be aftermarket replacements. Cars with missing
body parts would not be allowed."

351cat,

Hard to say, without knowing things like your engine's power output, vehicle weight, axle ratio etc. Suggest you take that Cat to a local drag strip as soon as Spring arrives, and find out how quick it is!

^^ planning on it, lol. The anticipation is killing me, i got this thing done like a week after the local strip closed for the season. I'm getting a new intake for it soon and a trak loc. planning on takin it to a dyno in kc after those are installed. Really wanna know how much power i'm makin, if not only for a baseline. That's the question everybody asks... "what kind of power does that thing have?" and i always say "i dunno" lol

cool, prolly end up bracket racing, simply because i think i can be consistant more than i can be fast. I'm a very inexperienced drag racer. I plan on getting some practice this spring and i plan on getting some dyno time in next month. Still have some tuning issues to iron out. Luckily there's still plenty of time to prepare for the big one, lol...
