lol That video is the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread. That was filmed on the Tennessee side of the Dragon in the summer of 2007.

There is currently a running battle between motorists and the Tennessee HP on the Dragon that motorists are going to lose every time. Almost the entire center column of the Dragon homepage is dedicated to last year's fiasco. Although TN has apparently made an effort to make ammends for last years gestapo like enforcement personally, I wouldn't want to take a chance.

They even have a map at the Tail of the Dragon website of the radar gauntlet that drivers must run. It's a great road that has gotten way to popular.

From what I've read the LEO's of NC are much more driver friendly provided you don't drive like an idiot. I think I'd much prefer to drive the Cherohala Skyway (at least the NC portion of it).

I don't even need to drive that far. I know some good roads up in Wilkes, Ashe and Allegheny Counties, NC that are just as much fun to drive and have none of the excessive motorcycle traffic and law enforcement to put up with. NASCAR didn't get it's start in the mountains of NC by chance.

There's a good map on this page showing both the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway and the state line.

That was the first thing i thought of when i seen it as well. But you are so correct, the Dragon that i shamlessly plug in my sig has gotten so bad with cops, and there really are just as good if not better roads than the Dragon.

I was thinking about doing the Dragon with the Tbird but after reading all the **** the HP has been doing last year I just gave up on it. Maybe once they ease up and traffic dies down again I'll ride the dragon. AHAHA my ex girlfriends dad has a leather jacket he bought after him and his riding buddies rode the dragon. He said it was quite fun but that was back in like 02 before things got REALLY popular. Ah how I miss the NC Mountains. I can't wait to go home in Sept.

I took the Mark there back in May, had a blast. There were only like 2 cops out when I went and they were near one end so actually got a chance to drive a bit. I imagine in the middle of the summer the cops get worse though.

yeah I figured it would be a blast... 318 turns in 11 miles I think I might try the cherohala skyway though. Less Crowded. AHAHA After I get the work done to my car maybe my brother and I will go down there. My Tbird vs his Mark and then maybe a couple other friends. I'm sure my buddy in his camaro would do it. Only difference that ***** is like 40 miles long 1 way and no gas station until the end ahah. But Eitherway I'll outhandle my buds bowtie and perhaps get him worked up enough to get him to start modding his car.
