I'll be putting more information together in the next couple weeks. I spoke and handed out flyers to several groups up at Carlisle this weekend.

Information will be updated as we progress toward this event.

Looking forward to seeing a lot of you here then.

This is an Invite to all MN12, Foxbody Bird-Cougars, FN10, Marauders

Here we go. Are we ready?? Summer Blast is now heading your way!

This year we will be holding our Annual Joel Bender Memorial Nats -SB V, on August 26 - August 27th, 2006. The name has changed in honor of our longtime friend/member Joel Bender who passed away this year after a long bout with cancer. We will still call it Summer Blast for short so as to not confuse anyone.

The itinerary is shaping up and right now looks to be on track for this event.

Saturday: We will have our Car show and Picnic with Trophies and prizes to be given out per class. It will be held once again at Lambert pool, Next to the Berkeley County Rec Center, Martinsburg WV, Same place as last year. Time will be 10:00 AM with the Car show starting at 11:00 AM. The Judging will be over at 1:00 PM. We will start the picnic portion at 1:00 PM also. Trophies will be presented based on turnout and registration around 2:30-3:00. The cost for the Saturday car show and Cookout is $5.00 per person. This is to help cover costs, Food, Trophies, Rental, etc. There is a pool available at the park. Those that want to swim etc will have to pay at the gate for that if you plan to use it.

Reservations MUST be made by NLT AUG 20, 2006. You can do that by contacting Jason Miller or myself. All monies will be sent to Jason via paypal or Check. He will post on here shortly as to how/where to send it.

** Parents- You may bring your children to this event. However, I ask all of you as always to please monitor and control your children. We care for our cars as you do your children and we don't want any issues.**

Saturday Evening - Is optional. (1) There will be a Car Cruise over to Hagerstown Mall for those that want to attend. Best to be there by 6 PM. You can stay as long as you like but Generally it starts winding down about 9 PM. (2) The MA-ADT will be holding its annual "Who can hang out the longest" nite on the town. Chris Vining and Tim Groth will be in charge of that entertainment for those that are interested. I'll have seperate threads for these as well to get counts ahead of time.

Sunday - We will meet in Martinsburg (TBD) to cruise as a group to Hagerstown Mason Dixon Dragway, for their ALL FORD EVENT. Those who want to show instead of race should contact www.masondixondragway.com for further instructions and details. The folks drag racing will sign in and register to run. The cost for the drag racing will be approximately $30 dollars (Car and Driver). Spectators I believe will be $10 dollars or less.

Those racing must insure that they have the proper safety equipment for E.T. and no short pants are allowed in the drag race portions. Shirts must also have sleeves and no Muscle shirts allowed during competition. WE WILL BE RUNNING IN OUR OWN CLASS which will be T-Birds, Cougars, Lincolns, Marauders of any years. Mostly its just us but sometimes the locals will have a few there as well. Gives the Mustang folks a Chance to sit and watch us (Barges)strut our stuff!!!!

Once the track event is over Mason Dixon will award trophies to the car show participants and the drag racing folks in our bracket. More will be discussed on that later.

There is already a seperate post on our www.mamn12.com site for the room reservations. Once those are gone, you will be on your own.

Looking forward to a great turnout and seeing everyone here.

Great news Update

We have secured the pavillion for the picnic and car show on Saturday. So we have that much accomplished.

It also looks like JOEL'S car will be here that weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing it again and to Rick (Joel's Dad) taking the car down the track in honor of Joel.

Please keep updated on the www.mamn12.com boards as well.

This is going to be lots of fun. I'd love to see 40+ cars there to honor Joel's memory. He was a great guy and deserves to have this event held in his name.

Cool

This really sounds awesome! I've gotta start saving because it's not that far off now. I plan on being there. The only thing that will stop me will be finances, or a break down (Both my cars or me ). I'm really looking forward to it!!!!!!!

It doesn't sound anything, it is awesome. Gonna be even better this year. I think our record is like 26-27 cars. With that many around a small town like Martinsburg, you really get noticed.

It's alot of fun having your own class to run in. All the other classes have to sit and watch you run and it's just bird after bird after bird, with the odd Mark and Cougar mixed in.

Uncaged94, how far is Newark from Dover. I'm in Dover about every other weekend. We should meet up sometime.

Joel's car will be there and running right. Maybe doubts on the driver but he will try and get some practice in. Also remember the Fall Auto Fair will be on Sept. 16, 2006.

I might give ya a run at the fastest 13 second car this year. Then again, I'd rather be the slowest 12 second car.

The events on Saturday will take place in Martinsburg, WV...zip is 25414 I believe if you want to mapquest it. On Sunday the events will be at Mason Dixon Dragway in Hagerstown, MD...roughly 25ish miles north of Martinsburg.

The track is not bad. I've been to worse. I'd give it a 7 out of 10 rating.

The Zip for Martinsburg is 25401. It is located in WV. The Picnic and car show on Saturday will be there along with the hotel reservations Tim has set up.

Sunday, the drag race will be in Hagerstown Md, actually just outside Boonsboro.

Thats roughtly 30 minutes from Martinsburg. ALL the action will be between those two towns.

I believe JP and the Lincoln was the quickest NA car there and he was in the 13's. Of course Mike had his in the 10's. I expect some more high powered (Power Adder) and other quick cars here this year as well

You got the best of the best here in this group (Siska) and some more bad ones here as well. And we tend to have a few visitors roll in with some too!!!

I agree with Jason that Mason Dixon is a 6-7 on a scale of 10. August is usually hot and humid so whatever you run may be a bit slower than your best elsewhere.

Hopefully last question what time Sunday does it normally end? Reason being if I come down I will have to drive home Sunday and it's about an 8 hr drive. I'm really thinking about making it down for this. My cousin's live just outside of Johnstown PA I'll drive there Friday after work and come there Saturday morning.

Well damn I may have to take 1/2 day Friday and Monday to make it. If I can get the car done by mid July I think I will make it down there. As long as someone buy's me a beer for being the first MI guy to come down I'll be there.
