That black Mark VIII looks better with the matte charcoal AMR wheels than my Cougar did when I briefly had a set. Love that wheel design otherwise

That's too nice to be Freddies car, lol.

I like those stacks!

I didn’t. That’s the most flattering pic of them, they looked like poo once I finally rolled the car out of the garage. Those were 20s, if the car was slammed they would have maybe worked but it had a real donkish vibe with the 1” drop vogtlands.

Right now, all of my cars have at least 115,000 miles on them and two are approaching 200,000...it's kind of a race between the Focus and the Town Car to see what gets there first. Right now the Town Car is running so it has the edge, lol.

The first owner put 13k miles on it in 12 years, a little old lady. The second owner put 50k miles on it in 6 years. I put the remaining 18k on it in 3 1/2 years, around 4k or so a year. My drive to work is short, plus I have another car.

I found some aluminum Cougar center caps that fit on the later Super Coupe wheels. I think they're for the 4-lug 80s wheels maybe. They're a little bit convex which makes me think they look a bit funny, but overall I'm not hating it. The silver paint I sprayed on doesn't quite match the wheel though.

Making some visual progress in the basement these last couple weeks. Framing for the home theater is just about done - just need to put the return air duct in before I box off the rest of that section of soffit. Still hoping to have this mostly wrapped up by the end of the year. Only 200 more studs to install...

If you can't get the correct caps, I would run without caps and use chrome lug nuts. But that's just me.

They look fine to me, no more convex than the stock caps anyway. If the original spun aluminum finish was intact on those I would have just run them as is without repaint, I actually liked that look on the 89-92 SC wheels, which were the same way, argent painted wheel with machined caps.

May I ask why not the factory 7 spokes? Those were the best looking stock MN12 wheels IMO.

I still have the 7 spokes, but they're due for a refinish. And I couldn't help but buy the SC wheels and put them on, since they're my personal favorites and I used to have a set on my Thunderbird. I was thinking I would use the 7 spokes for autocross wheels if I ever end up doing that. And then someday, have them chromed, because I'm amused by shiny objects.

I did put the aluminum caps on to see what they look like without painting, but it just seemed off to me.

And I still have the "correct" T-Bird caps, but it's a Cougar so I thought I'd try to find Cougar caps. Another idea would be to get some T-Bird caps that were mangled a bit, and fill in the bird logo, and then paint, apply a Cougar decal/sticker over it, etc.

And yeah, I could repaint the wheels to match the caps, but eh...not sure I wanna do that.

Personally, I thinks the SC wheels look better on a Cougar, and the 7-spokes look better on a Tbird. But I think the best looking stock wheels on a Cougar are the ultra-rare 92 XR7 wheels.

-91 Cougar LS, coming soon, complete overhaul with a 427" Windsor.
-90 XR7 5-speed black on black w/sunroof, MP2, coated rotors, double intercooler, 15%OD, ported heads, comp stage 1 cam, 85mm TB, 90MM LMAF, 80# injectors, and ported big valve heads
-98 Mark VIII LSC, Procharger P600b, TR3650 swap and 3.73s.
-90 SC Automatic rustbucket winter beater
-97 Tbird Sport 4.6 Nice weather daily driver

Which ultra rare wheels are you talking about? The anniversary wheels bbs style lace wheel.

Not those, the anniversary wasn't a XR7 and those were only 15" like LS wheels(they were also recycled on 95-97s with the luggage rack option). the 92 XR7 wheels were 16x7 just like the 7-spokes and SC wheels, and even used the 7-spoke center caps, but the wheel spokes were a directional turbine shape. They were only used on 92 XR7s, which was a low production year on a low production package. Ford Mexico used the leftovers on the Mexico built supercharged 1994-1995 XR7s but are extremely rare nonetheless.

Not my favorite design, personally, but they're very cool for the significance.

I found an 92 XR7 in a salvage yard with those wheels on last year; I couldn't get them off because of the stupid security lugnuts. I'm sure that car has been crushed by now unfortunately. The wheels weren't in great shape but I wanted them anyway.
