Smile "Bullet Proof Transcooler"

I'm currently working on a PDF outlining the work I did on my transcooler install.

I'll be outlining parts needed (and links/part numbers), est. total cost, some common sense stuff as well (don't work on it hot). Unfortunately, I'll have to get pictures from a stocker for reference, but I think I have a vechical I can use .

Anyway, I'll try to have this piece up in a couple days -- rough draft that is, no pictures.

I'll let ya know

96 Mark VIII [email protected] :: 03 radiator/fan - j-modded trans - BBK UD pulley kit - dual gauge pod - 28,000 B&M transcooler (w/ AN fits) - 3.73 locker (with speedo gear) - 180' thermo - 8.5mm wires - colder plugs
soon to install : "fixed" heads and a damn tune. Project snaked8 continues...

Beta 3

This is more of a final copy -- just have to add in the pictures. Added in cost breakdown for mine. Also added a further explination of flaring tool, couple spelling fixes.

Final Beta

Added a few pictures, re-wrote a LOT of it, removed a picture.

I think I'm happy with the way its written but I won't be done until the pictures are taken. Until then, fire away guys.

And with that, I ...am taking a break!

I've been considering adding parts like that. Sort of a "why is this done this way?" section. When I get to work here in a few I'll look it over and probably add in some spiffy way

I put my Hayden under the battery box. Mirror to the space the air silencer sits in on the passenger side.

Reason one: The cooler is protected from stones and other objects coming through the air dam/grille of the car.

Reason two: Short runs for cooler hoses. I had more that enough hose from what bulkpart.com had sent.

If you know what you are doing, (I didn't and needed help) you won't need extra fittings or the install kit Bulkpart sells.

The Parts Bin Special is DEAD! It is being parted out.

I'm not 100% sure it would fit nicely up there because this is a cooler twice the size that you installed, but still, send me a picture so I can include it on a transcooler location examples.

That goes for everyone -- if you have some good pictures of where you have yours mounted, send 'em to my email address, in jpg format, no bigger than 640x480 and include your tccoa handle so I know who to say.

Ok, I found my reciepts, its a 1/4th, not a 3/8ths. I'll be modifying it here after I go pickup/order my bearings (thank you god for small favors)

I've had a few people ask me if I'll be doing an article on the "putting a 3.8L SC together because your an idiot and forgot to mark some things" here this week. The cougar shall ride again

ok so I lied, didn't go get the stuff yet, but here's the release candidate minus a ton of pictures.

Look it over, let me know if I've missed something

I'm also looking into adding others cooler pictures -- I got cougar281s in the article, very cool stuff there, and I recieved a few others which I shall add once I get the real pictures for the article itself.

fubar,

I want to put a bulletproof cooler in my truck. Possibly we can fit it into the schedule when I come down there for fubar-motorswap-a-thon?

SS Lines are expensive

shouldn't be a problem. The F150 should be a lot easier to deal with, tons of room -- you sure it doesn't have one already??

Chicken,

I put my cooler under the battery box in the space that is mirror to where the air silencer sits on the passenger side.

It is protected, and helps bulletproof the TRANSMISSION!

If you drive like I do, 18000 will be fine. If you race alot, or live where there's heat all the time, you might want a bigger one. I prefer Hayden. They are smaller and cheaper. Look at www.bulkpart.com

My cooler works so well, I had to put cardboard around it this winter so that the tranny didn't get TOO COLD!

The Parts Bin Special is DEAD! It is being parted out.
