New MSD window switch is coming out...

http://www.msdignition.com/2004/2004_2.htm

Its made for our cars with the coil packs. So then you dont need a tach adapter. And its all digital so there is no need for all the RPM pills.

I dont think its out yet, but I will be getting it when it does.

Also there is this one available for DIS cars (ours) now

http://www.msdignition.com/ignition_27_c.htm

Probably will cost a hair less than the digitial one. (I hope)

These cars have a clean tach lead, so the original window switch already works, no tach adapters needed.

The new DIS-RPM switch is out already. You can buy it from summit for like $65. I haven't found the digital one anywhere yet.

Ok now I have a really dumb question?

Which wire do I tap off the EEC for the tach output? Or can I tap into a lead coming off the coil packs, if so, which one.

Thanks alot

I think the wire you need is orange/white which is #48 I believe. Or it might be #26 but the #48 sounds better.

Its late and Iv been working a car way too long

According to my diagram, #26 goes the coild pack for cylinders 1,6,3,5
and #48 goes to the constant control relay module.

#26 - dark blue/lt. green
#48 - lt. green/purple

This is from a Chilton's btw, so it may be inaccurate.

Edit: it doesn't appear to be inaccurate except for #48

You want the wire that goes from the EEC to the tach.

Going on the information from Kdanner, I found the pinout from the eec and you need to tap wire #48 which is white/pink.

Here is the pinout diagram, If I am incorrect please let me know.

Thanks Joel, Chiltons appearantly mislabeled #46 w/ a #48, and has no "real" #48 on the diagram.

I knew BlackT was right all along

Window switch is in, I have an adjustable low rpm module in it, and it's set for 2800 rpms I tested it out today, and it works great, I just tapped into the white/pink wire #48 as it goes into the gauge cluster.

when I have a spare intake laying around I'm going to set the unit to come on at 2500 rpms, which should be fine, but i will have a spare intake sitting on the side, just to be safe. I do know that the stock tach is a bit on the slow side when you go wot from idle.

Yea in Chicago, IL its been lightly snowing for most of the evening. So far there is about 1-2" of snow on the ground. Glad my Tbird is in a nice safe garage for the winter this year And the focus is great in the snow. Maybe I should install a nitrous kit in the focus too

BTW - My window switch is on its way too. I will be installing it once I get it and testing it in the spring.
