The Nitrous Is Installed!

Well, after about 6 hours of installation with Mark M, and one of his friends, I now have nitrous.

Unfortunatly, Nitrous goes very quick, I have about 1lb left in my bottle already, after blowing a few purge lines, and then retesting, and yada yada ya.

QUESTION: On the fuel pressure regulator, there was a very small vacuum line going to the top, and we needed to install a Zex vacuum line to that place. My question is what the heck do you do with that vacuum line, that we took off the regulator?

I have not used the nitrous due to my transmission problems, but will the minute I get the new one installed.

Thanks For everyones help in getting my bird on the giggle gas!

you running a dry kit?....cause that vacumm line is suposed to go to the box...as in it makes a big loop, with the box in the middle. Here is a pic of how its suposed to be set up on a dry kit. And you NEED!!! to get that hooked up because that is what controls fuel enrichment while having nitrous, and also increases fuel pressure during normal driving.

If you just block it off....then it'll run rich at all times without nitrous because there is no vacumm being placed on the regulator. I cant stress enough to hook it up or you'll fed have a melt-down.

The instructions from Zex are very poor. It says to grab a vac source off the manifold and put it to the box and from the box to the fuel reg. That is just what I did but it said nothing about what to do with the small line we pulled off the reg after we installed the box line. We plugged the line but it would have been nice if Zex had said something about it.

Dave: email me that purge pic so i can put it up.

It will work plugged up, from what I have found out; but the correct way that Zex says to do it is different.

So actually I am okay for now and I will fix it at a later time before I run.

Dave

Mark: I have to put the pics on disc first so I can bring it to work. My comp at home has no internet connection yet.

I guess the correct way to do it is there should have been an inline connector to incorporate this line into the vacuum lines zex provided. I had notes on it, which my boss threw out while I was on brake and i didn't know until I returned, which was to late.

I just need to buy an I connector.

what i did was where the stock line that goes to the regulator...took that out completley. Then i used the nipple that was in the stock intake where that line was and hooked up the hoses that was included in the zex kit. So where it said to find a source, i used where the old hose came off from, because you dont need it now. There was no cutting of hoses or re-routing anything. Also, this way some random line isn't hanging there for a possible future vac leak.

As long as one hose from the zex box goes to the reg. and the other goes to the intake, you'll be all set.

Just my two cents.

Another question......

Mark....I think the purge hose is too big, the gas is going like crazy, will going to a smaller purge line reduce the amount of nitrous that I use when the purge is used?

Also, I think there may be a leak somewhere, When I turned the car off today, and had the hood open, I heard a faint hissing sound coming from the car, which stopped after a few minutes. I guess I need to use soapy water to run over the lines again?

Thanks

Dave

Well, I used the nitrous today for the first time, and holy ****!
75 horses smokes the tires for a long time! Wierd thing happened though. I removed the OD before engaging the system, and mashed WOT on the pedal, and off I go up to 90 mph, really quick.

HITTING THE NITROUS KICKED MY TRANNY BACK TO NORMAL.

My transmission shifts like it did last year, perfect!

I don't know why sending nitrous through my engine helped my tranny back to normal, but whatever, I am still getting a new one though.....

If my engine was lame before, it sure as hell isn't now. That 75 hp really wakes the birdy up.
