NX Bottle Heater

I have looked all over the place...

Does the wire going from the Relay to the fuse need a wire and if it does what size fuse do I need?

What about the wire going from the switch to the relay? What fuse for that?

I don't have an NX heater, but if it is a pressure controlled heater (which IIRMC, it is) here is how mine is run. And granted you have the same relay as I do (I don't know much about realys, etc).

To Pin 30-Power wire from battery with an inline fuse
To Pin 86-Wire from switch
To Pin 85-Wire from pressure sensor
To Pin 87-Wire from heater

The other side of your switch should be wired to a 12v power wire that is hot when the key is on.

Hope this helps.

So no fuse right

I got mine in and it didn't heat up. Now it is used and I only had it on for like 5 min but it didn't even get a little warm. I don't know.

The realy could be bad. If it is pressure controlled...I'm still assuming it is...Is it an adjustable pressure switch? i know when I hooked mine up, it was supposed to be preset at 900 psi and my bottle pressure was about 700...turned it on and waited about 20 min and nothing...so I adjusted the pressure switch and sure enough, it was preset about 700 psi, not allowing the heater to turn on. When the heater is on, you will be able to feel the heat for sure...it should get up to about 85-90 degrees or a little more. You will also be able to hear the realy switch on and off.

This may be a dumb question, but if you have the switched wired up to a keyed 12v power source, is your key on?

Also, maybe see if NX has any online instructions for the heater.

Yeah sorry it is a pressure operated switch and I don' t think there is any adjustment for it.

I don't have it hooked up to a keyed power source right now. I have everything hooked up to the battery and then to a switch.

I will have to get some pictures of it because it is pretty neat.

I have one wire to a power panel with three fuses. The one wire supplies the power to the others. The fuse comes in at this point. I have a 10, 10, and 15 for nitrous, purge and heater, respectively. They are the glass tube type fuses. It is all mounted on a panel for my ashtray and looks really neat. I don't remeber hearing the relay clicking or anything and I don't have any nitrous in the bottle. I still have to hook up throttle postion wire, vacumm line, and the other rubber hose.

It was a pain to get everything in and I know the fuses aren't right but I wanted to see the l.e.d's and to see if everything was going to work. I believe that the bottle heater will still work even with it closed I wasn't going to let it get really hot just warm to the touch.

Does anyone know how to test the relay?

bottom right is how the heater, transducer, and relay should be hooked up

Was your bottle open? and I think it usually takes longer than 5 minutes, if I remember right

I will double check the wiring with the diagrams tommorrow. I can't remeber if I grounded the relay now. I thought that I did but I will have to double check it again just to be on the safe side.

I just confirmed it that the Ground wire coming off the relay was in hiding and it would have taken me longer to figure that out had I not had the diagrams and the advice. Thanks. I will hook it up tommorrow and hopefully have some pictures. Weather permitting.

Well it worked for a couple of minutes and then it shut off. The bottle only reached 700 psi. The heater never came back on. I don't know if it is the relay or not. I checked the fuse that I have on it and it is fine. So I don't know. I am going to call them.
