Looking at Superchargers.Finally.

So I got the go ahead to get a supercharger for the car next tax season.I've been looking at the Vortechs mainly.I really like the way they pull up top so that may be the route I go.Looking to be around $4k-$5k for this thing. What do you guys think?

I like the price of the V1 S trim.I don't really care if it is loud.I like the sound anyway.I remember driving JustinH's Vortech PI bird and it was just awesome. He had the V1 S trim as well.

From searching I've done I've learned that a 96-98 GT kit is needed because of the brackets? Also I have to tap the oil pan for the Blower right?

Maybe we can get some Vortech guru's to chime in and point me in the right direction of Superchargers and certian Modifications that had to be done when installing on thier cars.

Thanks.

-Larry

WOW !!!! thats a ton of money. Try getting a tunner kit....

http://coolblueperformance.com/index...S&Category=149

Other companys do the same thing. basically it lacks the parts you dont need. Chip, fuel pump, FMU....Always get tunned by an SCT tunner for a supercharged application. Stay away from the bandaid FMU. and you can get an 255lph high pressure pump for $100 shipped.

Wow thats much better.I am SCT tuned now with an Xcal2 so I will just have Lonnie do the adjustments.

FMU?Define this abbreviation please?Thanks.

Ya I figured I would need a 255 lph Pump.

Oh and what about Meth injection?Worth it on a Vortech car?

Thanks again,

FMU=Fuel management unit. It blocks the vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator so the rails retain max fuel presure. Thus avoiding lean A/F

There is no Anderson powerpipe that fits our cars. Although I do have one on my car. I had to section it and reweld it to make it work. Pretty expensive item to be cutting up if you're not hady with fab work and welding. But, they make gains of up to 2psi and 25HP in some applications.

Meth injection...its worth it. I went from 200* IAT temps to 90-95* IAT temps.

Ok so that settles that part of it.This is probley the cheapest kit I've found. It is infact a kit with the basics,Right?

So about $2900 including 42# injectors and 255 lph pump in an SC Vortech kit plus about $400 for a Meth kit from RobertP,and about $40 to Lonnie for a retune.

So I am at $3340 so far.Probley ad about another $500-$700 or so just in case and I have $4k into it.Sound about right?

i looked ebay for ever now there's hardly any centrifugal kits on there tons of roots which are rediculous in consideration of how much engine modifications you have to do. go to paxton.com and get the novi 2000 kit for the 4.6l mustang they use the exact same engine. so it will bolt right up to the engine with out doing your own mods.the link below is a kit that will bolt right up to your engine you only have to do simple modifications other then new fuel pump and stuff like that.

heres a link to it

paxton is a no go. unless you want to cut a hole in your hood, and half of your passenger side strut tower out.

you dont have to do that they have a special kit just for the mustang which is basically the same exact car. not to mention you can place a paxton anywhere for the most part as long as it can pick up the serpantine belt

then you must have to cut a hole then to put a vortech cuz there for the most part the same thing. unless you get the mini one the trim or w/e they call it

yea and the hood clearance is significantly less on an mn12, the mustang paxton does not fit under it, period.

sooooo, its proven the vortechs fit under our hoods, its proven paxtons do not fit.........sooooo, why would you spend $2-4k on something knowing you have to hack everything up and ghetto rig the mounts to get it to work, when you can buy essentially the same thing and fit it with little issue?

Blah,Vortech for me.I see how it mounts under the hoods of these cars already. And I have slight (Very slight)Expierance with them since I used to mess with JustinH's car alot.I never worked on his supercharger but I did get numerious close looks on how it sits.

Fact is I know that Vortech works. And I love the top end power. And the price seems reasonable compared to other Superchargers.Hell I can get a kit with injectors and 255 lph pump for just under $3k according to the site CobraRThunder gave me.

It's a win/win

04 PI swap,SVO Supercharger 8-9 psi,Alcohol injection,39lbs Cobra injectors,XCal2-Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump,4.10 T-Lok,2003 4R70W built to withstand by RobertP,450hp JMOD,3800 circleD stall,trucool 4739 Trans Cooler,Dynotech 3.5 Driveshaft,70mm T/B,SCP Cold Air Intake,90mm LMAF,JBA headers,Magnaflow Midmount,No cats with 3inch piping,Vogtland 1.6inch drop,Cobra R's and xenon body kit.

Its slow, Really.

Well JustinH was making about 5-6psi on a stock PI motor and made 333rwhp on a safe tune.

His car I believe reved to about 6500rpm or so.
