bolt on supercharger

First off there is no bolt on supercharger for the bird other than allen engine development unfotunatly they are no longer in business. What I would recomned and get if I had the money would be a kenny bell whipple charger for a 96-98 GT. DO NOT TELL THEM IT IS FOR A 96 THUNDERBIRD NO MATER WHAT. If you do they won't sell you the kit. I imagine it will work but some custom egr plumbing will have to be done but that is not so bad. The 96-98 mustang gt uses the same belt routing, alt, ps pump, ac compressor, pullies, EGR valve, fuel rails, throttlebody and various other parts. I am not sure but I think that the throttle linkage bracket is the same if it is you can use the bird throttle and cruise cables.
It might require relocating the batterie to the trunk and it will definatly require a 3 inch raised cowl hood. If you get the hood make sure you get hood pins. If you get the supercharger make sure you start saving for a forged motor with ported heads because the stock motor is not going to last too long when you are making 500 crank hp.

It's an SVO from Ford Racing. They come with a 6lb pulley. You can do a complete install with tune from Lonnie for around 2500. Since you have a 96 Tbird you shouldn't need to trim your hood. On the 94 you have to remove the center brace. I've had mine on for 30,000 miles now

It all comes with the supercharger and install kit. The only thing I would recomend adding is a 80mm MAF if you don't already have one and tap one of the runners for a lighning ACT sensor so Lonnie can pull timing as blower temp increases. The install kit comes with 30lb injectors 190 lph fuel pump and all the brackets and bolts required. If you have a fax machine I can fax you the install instructions with packing list. It even comes with an EEC tuned by Ford but I sold mine since the SCT tuning is way better. I forgot to mention the entire instal including dropping the tank for the new pump took 8 hours. You can up the boost but wouldn't recomend more than 6 on a stock block you can go tto 9 but then blower outlet temps really ramp up and without an intercooler the only option is water injection to bring it down

Ok, now the $50 question. Is it C.A.R.B. certified for use on a T-Bird in CA?

Good question check the FRPP catalog....if I had to bet I would say no....I would also bet my 02 explorer motor isn't either. I'm so glad I left the fruit and nut state back in 84.

Since it has Ford stamped on it do you think they would know it wasn't the origional intake anymore than they know you have a PI? Just asking because all that crp happened after I left and I don't know how close they inspect

Have you dyno'd with that setup?

Were you the guy who was going to do water injection? How did that ever turn out?

Some supercharged cars blow.......Others just pick up and move.

Haven't dyno'd I just drive it. The tune J sent me in the mail was great from the start so I never bothered with a dyno. John (Cam94) was the guy who was going to use the snow injection. I plugged my 1/4 mile figures in a HP calculator for a WAG and came up with 255 at the wheels but who knows.

Thomas,

With good traction yes it would be. Here is a run down from the last time I ran at the track...you can see I have a lot to gain in the 60' department. Since this timeslip I have changed rearend gears to 3.27 and have a mustange converter rather than the Tbird one

94 trans with Jmod and stock converter
open 3.08 rear
SVO blower
ART Exhaust

Temps were around 75*
60'......2.179
330'.....6.137
1/8......9.347
MPH....77.49
1000'...12.048
1/4......14.339
MPH......97.96

The install kit went up in price and the blower "may" be going up as well from the last time I talked to Dan (last week but I talk to him once a week or more). I got both before it was too late. 04 Exploder motor is being ordered tomorrow (man they charge alot for 04's) along with a 70MM TB and I should "hopefully" have everything in by March along with slicks (drag radials won't cut it) and a PI triple disc later on along with a beefier tranny. MK8 TC will suffice for now along with my 3rd transmission.

Broke a valve spring last Friday and luckily got it fixed Sat by a kick a$$ mechanic. Engine really needs to come out.

Tim-How long time wise have you had your blower?

95 4.6 [email protected] 1.748 60' (drag tune with drag radials and racing gas) Street Tune: 288HP and 326TQ Body Retired-Engine and other goodies transferred below)
