I know you normally put this thing on a car with a supercharger, or i thought...

but the more i think about it, isnt it just for your air intake???

Not sure what the "real" name of it is,, but some people call it a hat.. Now, as for what it does,, it controls the amount of air entering the supercharger...

If I remember correctly from watching NHRA, that is the throttle body entering the supercharger, that is what controls the air that enters the engine, just a different setup compared to ours which is one circle and inside the engine compartment.

Ya, its funny, Funny like a Clown.

ok, i have seen theese on cars without a supercharger though, which is what made me look into it, any ideas on how to find out the name of this intake? what kind it is etc....

i really would like more info on it, i tryed to search yahoo and google under "intake sticking out of the hood" but that didnt work too well....

If your thinking of putting that on your car, I will hunt you down and shoot you, then steal your car and run you over, THEN tie a rope to your feet and drag you around the country with your own car

WHY? because:
  1. It doesn't flow with the body lines
  2. You don't have a root's style supercharger
  3. Your engine is fuel injected
  4. It would most likely be illegal in your state (in my state, you can't have anything sticking out of your hood more than 4")
  5. It would make you look like a moron

no, its would be goofy and you will get laughed at. There is no blower that will fit a 4.6L ready available that you can bolt that too.....i think you should just do an explorer swap and call it a day.

those are made for chevy muscle cars.. things like Novas, camaros, chevelles, impalas.. things that you can cram a big block with a weiand 6-71 roots blower that needs 2 4bbl carbs and sux more fuel @ idle than you could prolly afford

i guess there are better alternatives, but im not worried about track numbers... 15k is more on the engine than i wanted to spend for sure... im going to do whatever i can do for 5-7000 in engine work.

lets not talk about 6-10k in suspension and frame mods to make sure the chassis doesn't flex...

I would think for 5-7k you could have a nice 5.0 big bore or blown PI 4.6 and the accompanying mods to go with them.

just do an explorer swap and call it a day. Its almost painless and yields a nice result.

If your looking to impress your performance numbers on that fine peace of art I’m sure you can do a lot with $5-7000. Aftermarket SC, P&P, headers, ext. I'm telling you that butterfly snorkel would ruin that look on your car, that is a show car, keep that look, its beautiful the way it is....so don’t do it!!!

God Bless the men & women who have served and serving to keep us free

From a purely technical perspective you have a mass air injection system which would not allow for that type of TB.
