Steering Question

Does anybody know if the thunderbirds and cougars that have rack and pinion steering have two u-joints on the intermedaite shaft? I was told the crown vics have it but they do not they go right into a steering box with the rag joint. I thought someone might know if it has two or not(one that is attached to the rack and the other that would attach to the shaft coming through the firewall)? The reason I ask is I'm doing a 4.6 Mark VIII swap into a Mazda truck and know that the two u-joint shaft will bolt up to mine to clear the engine.
