IRS bushing question

Would it be ok to replace the IRS to unibody bushings with machined aluminum? Would it hurt anything?

It would probably cause problems eventually. Ford used "rubber" for a reason and it was probably to reduce NHV to the cabin. Also it could serve to reduce shock loads from road bumps transmitted through the IRS to the unibody.

I highly considered this when I was at my old machining job. But I got lazy and just used new overpriced OEM bushings.

A lot of the imports use them for better handling. If I do decide to make my t-bird a performer some time I'll prob do it, but that wont be fore a while lol.
