I am sorry all. I think even with all the good advice I have been given, I am ill equipped to deal with the job. I spent about 2 hours figuring out how to do the job, trying to do the job, and giving up on doing the job from start to finish.
So the ratcheting set I bought has pretty long bodies and is an offset head set. This made thing's like by electrical box, and brake reservoir/booster, get in the way massively. Still I think I could get both of those off with TLC, the right angle, and an adjustable wrench for the little last bit where the angled head will not be able to come out unless I take it off right away.
Looking at the drivers control arm I was unable to turn the left/front inner bolt. It appears to be a 14 mm, but the ratchet seemed to small, and 15mm too large. A 14mm open ended wrench fit and just spun.... It is probably stripped
. The right/back inner bolt catches fine with a 14mm open ended wrench, but the wrench gets stuck and will not come off after I turn the bolt, so it will tighten and loosen, but without pulling it off, it will not stay that way. Maybe I am just using the wrong tool for these, but I think this is why they recommend braking off the flanges.... I don't know, all I know is mainly because of that i feel like I could not do the job myself, unless I am supposed to break them off and just replace all the darned bolt's which looks preferable if I do end up doing the work myself, I am leaning towards paying someone to do this.
Finally the pinch bolt. I was able to get the nut off just fine, but the pinch bolt does not want to come out. Honestly I don't understand how it should come out. The knuckle is probably threaded so the bolt screws in, but the bolt I have on this thing is square, and large. Part of the metal from the knuckle blocks any movement by this bolt, once again, because it's a pure large squared end, and it can not be turned
I tried prying it with the ball joint separator bar and rubber mallet, this did not move the ball joint, UCA, or the tips of the steering knuckle like they talk about slightly prying with a screw driver.
So the thing feels solid, and I found out the play I experienced before was the assembly being able to be pushed in slightly where the knuckle meets the UCA.
Unless I get some advice that makes me want to try this again, I think I am going to give and let a shop complete the work with my parts. I believe I will at least need a stubby 18mm ratcheting wrench, and a regular straight, long, one. Than I will need to replace all bolt's, and this is considering that I can pull out one that is getting stripped it seems, and for the pinch bolt, it would most likely be a spindle replacement if I did it, and now it's getting to be me just replacing the whole system because I can't do the job right. That would be best of course, but costly even more so in part's and I wanted someone to look at my suspension anyways.
