91 Sport Springs

Tried search and I'm still not clear. I'm wondering if 91 Sport springs are the same as 96-97 Sport/ SC springs. I have a 91 Sport and a 89 Cougar XR7 and the Cougar seems stiffer.

According to the MN12 Tech articles The only Thunderbird's and Cougar's that got the stiffer springs were the 89-92 XR7,and the 89-95 SC..The only exception being the 97 Thunderbird Sport that also came with these stiffer springs...

However I have a 91 Sport also, and pulled the tag off one of the front springs..The tag says (JVC 61.1/7356)..There is conflicting information, but in my honest opinion..Check your springs and look for the tag..

fosc-ja (fronts)
Should have a Spring Tag of "JVC" and the "B" Pillar Tag should be "J". English Load Rate (Lbs. Lb./in.) 1654 349-403, English Wire Diameter = 0.594-0.659

fosc-ja (rears)
Should have a Spring Tag of "NUD" and the "B" Pillar Tag should be "J". English Load Rate (Lbs. Lb./in.) 1672 509-637, English Wire Diameter = 0.612-0.708

These are in fact the same springs used on the 89-92 XR7 and the 89-95 SC..Look for the tags on your springs..Good luck!
