random loss of power steering

I've noticed some spuratic losses of power steering so far just at low speeds. Is it the power steering pump or something else?

Thanks
David

Does your car have the EVO variable assist steering? There is a valve on the high pressure line at the pump and a box under the rear deck for it. Maybe one of them is malfunctioning. How is the fluid?

If you unplug the harness from the valve at the pump, it should go full assist. This may help you troubleshoot.

So I've noticed it gets hard to steer when the windshield wipers are running, turn the wipers off and it's fine.

Have your alternator load tested.

That sounds like the multi-function switch (turn signal stalk). Hopefully you can still get it from Ford, not too hard to install.

i tried a doorman stalk and it made no difference, looking into the rest of the wiring since the dash was swapped.
