Suspension Wrench Sizes

So I am working on taking stuff apart on my suspension to put bushings in. But I need to get a couple wrenches. MN-12 Performance's website is down so I can't see the instructions to get the wrench sizes from them (if they are listed in there even). What I need to know is, what wrenches 1" or larger do I need? Are the large wrenches metric or standard? Thanks for the help.

Everything is metric on our cars. In some instances, you will find that some standard wrenches will fit the metric.

Here is a list of tools I used to change the rear springs and shocks.



Trolley jack
Jack Stand
Lug wrench
Locking lug nut key
Penetrating fluid
White lithium grease
9mm socket bit
13mm deep socket bit
18mm socket bit (1/2” drive)
18mm comb. wrench
21mm socket bit (1/2” drive)
21mm comb. wrench
½” lug breaker bar.

What about the front end, anyone? As much as I would like to asume everything is Metric, I know it doesn't always end up that way. There always seem to be a few strays other than the 19mm/ 3/4in interchangeability and 5/16 /8mm interchanging and other things like that.

If all else fails, and you are trying to make a tool run, take an adjustable cresent wrench, and fit it snug on each bolt or nut you need to remove. Then measure it with a metric ruler. That measurement will equal the wrench size needed.

Like I said, if all else fails.........lol

16 and 18mm sockets and wrenches are musts.

Do I actually need anything bigger than a 21mm for anything on the suspension? I have everything up to that. Might have up to 22 or 23 or so. Just none of the really big stuff. What size are the nuts on the strut rods?

It's not exactly suspension, but a 36mm socket is good to have for the hub retaining nuts.

The answer was yes, I do need something bigger than 21, but not knowing what, I just went to Sears I got the wrench set going from 22-30, with 3 wrenches in between. Hopefully that gets it, if not, I'll be very frustrated.

You need 24mm and 30 mm do do the nuts on the strut rod bushings.

24mm at the back, 30mm at the front.

I was just going to post that, I just went and bought a set of big wrenches since I wasn't getting a satisfactory answer. I was too broke to do that but the credit card bill won't be due for a month and a half so I should be ok. I think you need a 24 for the lower ball joint too. It seemed like the 24 didn't fit on the nut on the back of the strut rod...hmmm, guess I'll have to check again.

Check my new thread on the upper control arm.

I measured the strut rod wrench sizes, just before I made that post.

Just to be sure, I am not referring to the lower shock bolt.
