Steering briefly stops working

My 93 tbird has a problem with the power steering. It feels like it stops working on turns for a few seconds. The power steering pump is not squeking at all, nor does the belt sound like its slipping. i dont know whats wrong with it. its like the steering gets really heavy for a few seconds then all is fine, it happens once or twice a week. i just bought this car in the begining of january. any help is apreciated

anybody? please? i may take this car back with me to school at the end of spring break. and i dont want anything to happen while i am 7 hours away from home.
