yesterday i was driving in my neighborhood, and all of a sudden i hear a crash in the car, as i step on the brake the car keeps going. when i finally get it to stop, i see my right front tire all crooked, i turned the steering wheel, and the car fell to the ground. the lower ball joint came out of where it goes, leaving the front of the car on the street. i could move the wheel all around with my hands. the wheel well got melted from rubbing the tire. the wheel got all scraped inside. after about 2 hours my dad found a way to tie the joint so we can bring it home, which was less than a mile away. when we got to my house, it fell again, so my dad just dragged it into the driveway. the stabilizer link also broke.i got the arm thing with the ball joint from a junkyard and the link new. my dad and i put it all in, when i was trying the car i noticed the wheel is not straight. i had enough of this car. as soon as my mom gets back from out of town, im getting another car. im looking at a 2003 Cobra for $25,000. i want to get it since it will be my birthday in less than a month and as a graduation present for myself, since i know my parents dont have the money to get me something. i graduate 05. ive changed the engine and so many things to my bird, but now im just disappointed in it.

well, sorry you got disappointed with your car enough to get rid of it, the only issue is that most ford cars have the sealed ball joints, sooner or later they will go out any ways, lol, hate to tell you i told you so, so i won't, later'z......

Are there any upper ball joints that are supposed to last longer?

don't know about that, i think the only way to make the ball joints last longer is by being able to grease them with the fitting, but all the replacement upper control arms i've seen have the permanently sealed balljoints. so they don't have any greasable fittings

Wow, that really sucks, sorry to hear about the problems and that you're getting rid of it. Good luck with the cobra, they're fun cars, though considerably smaller inside than the mn12. I gotta get my car to the shop to make sure my ball joints aren't going out, ack

Moog makes upper control arms that include GREASIBLE ball joints! Also Moog makes endlinks that have fittings on them.

I always use a needle fitting to grease my sealed joints
