Broken CV Boot

I went to do the pads on the back of my car yesterday and noticed tons of grease everywhere. I quickly realized what it was and started to inspect the CV axles, and noticed that the boot was cut (or ripped or something) that caused it to split and empty out. Should/Can I just replace the boot, or replace the whole axle? And, I don't think they are, but are the axles for all non-SC MN-12's the same? I know that some 5-speed SC's were different.

last i looked i saw just the rubber boots. but you have to remove the axle unless you get a splt model. but that screams VW to me. I just had mine both replaced.
