source for irs bushings

Looks like every bushing in my rear suspension needs replacing.

It started with the upper inside control arm bushing wallowing out. Now the inner lowers appear to have slightly moved. Oddly the knuckle bushings are still intact.

The diff bushings and mount are shot.

The whole mess looks easier to fix by buying a complete subframe. I'd like to upgrade all the bushings while it's on the floor.

I'm stumped when trying to find all the bushings to make it new again. Too bad someone doesn't offer a complete poly kit I've searched here and found that Cobra inner lca bushings, spring isolaters, and diff bushings will fit, then developed a headache.

Has anyone compiled a list of all the part #'s of all the bushings required to completely rebuild the rear suspension?

If not it would be a great help.

SuperCoupePerformance.com has a selection of rear bushings available. I didn't see the differential bushings but I saw the rear knuckles, sway bar end links, shock mount bushings, and upper/lower spring cups.

The rear knuckle bushings would be the only ones I would buy from SuperCoupePerformance. Isn't there another source with better pricing?

The only thing found for an uca to frame is Moog or Ford. They're like $50.00 each. Seems kinda high for 1 bushing. I'm married to my freaking car so what the hell.

Laurel Mountain Mustang has the other bushings in poly with great prices.

That leaves the subframe mounting bushings. Will Cobra poly bushings work?

After two days of searching I finally found every bit of information needed.

Looks like Splitportbird was in almost every informative thread. Many thanks. I should have narrowed my search criteria to "splitportbird" and could have found all the answers sooner

Now I have to decide if it's worth an extra $100 to get the aluminum diff with the $150 MarkVIII subframe I'm definitely going to take my pick from the Lincoln salvage. Maybe if the $100 worth of inner uca bushings are good the diff will be an even trade

Thanks for the link. Bill at Supercoupe Performance said he would match any price. We need to keep him in business He might have some parts nobody else has one day.

I put a hundred down on the 84k mile subframe I picked. They had to fix the forklift so it will be Tuesday before it's delivered. The total was $250.00 + tax. That includes EVERYTHING - brakes, axles,diff, ect...

The uca bushings are intact. I'm going to try welding reinforcements in the arms without melting the bushings. Might need a few ice cubes and rags for that trick. If they melt, oh well, just another hundred for 2 measly bushings.

Now the questions

1. Is the actual frame part a direct interchange?
2. Are the rear brakes the same? If not will they fit 15 in. wheels?

Bah, they kept the brakes. But I have spare axles and knuckles now. Now I have to decide on either new gears and bearings for my new torsen or just swap housings. Anyone wanna buy a torsen t2 n.i.b.?

Lower Control arm Bushings?

I NEED Lower rear control arm bushings, For both my 1990 Circle track Thunderbird & my 1996 Soon to Be Circle Track Thunderbird.

Need to Replace the Rear K bushings to something stiffer than stock. Maybe 1/2 Steel.

Bill is an outstanding person. He gave me this price on knuckle bushings in order to make the sale- http://parts.factoryfive.com/newcata...is/irspoly.htm

I'm pretty sure SCP has all the bushings they sell in stock. They have the diff bushings and insulators also.

I called FactoryFive today and they were still $88.00 shipped. Energy Suspension told me they custom made those bushings for FactoryFive and nobody else would have them.

The stiffer body to cradle bushings are a no-go unless you make your own. If you go steel just tie it into the cage and it should hold up.

I'm heading to the steel warehouse this weekend and buying a truckload of steel for chassis bracing. The subframe and upper arms will be reinforced. I'm going to make my own diff cover brace. Hopefully those squeaks and rattles in back will disappear once I'm done.

so te rear control arm bushings, PN 6-311, these go into the rear lower control arms? I must have bought the subframe bushings off eBay because they're too small. The 6-311's will fit thought right?

My brain seems to be in slow motion and the guy at the shop says he can't align my car (after complete front end suspesion rebuild), until I replace (he knows better than to suggest he do it) the upper knuckle to control arm bushings on both sides. SO, which parts do I need? I'm thinking the ones refered to above at the factory five link?

That would be the upper and lower bushings. You could let the shop install Moog bushings in the uppers and be done.

I know my upper knucle bushings are bad and I've been told to go ahead and replace the upper arm to frame (adjustment point) bushings as well. The car has about 180k on it.

if they are rotted out, would this describe it? When the wheels hang free(unsupported), you can push the top of the tire more toward the body of the cr and it will clunk or clack? in a camber-type movement. any ideas? or are the whole knuckles F'ed?

Do you still have the torsen T2 for sale? Is it 28 spline and for an IRS?

Sorry McGyver, Dave jumped on that 1/2 priced diff real fast. I broke even on that deal after shipping. Bought it at dealer cost since they were reducing inventory.

You might try to find a Ford dealer with one in stock. They might let go of it real cheap since they are considered obsolete. The $428 Summit gets almost doubles their investment.

http://www.laurelmountainmustang.com for Cobra spring isolators, diff bushings, and inner control arm bushings. Summit can get all of the bushings at a great price but you have to wait. They don't stock them.

I should have reused the oem inner bushings. If they aren't bad the oem ones seem very well made. They fit better than the Cobra poly bushings. I'm pretty sure the load has shifted to the subframe mounting bushings since everything else is so stiff. Cornering has improved greatly but launching off the starting line hasn't.


"High Performance Polyurethane Rear Spindle Bushing Kit" came from SCP. Bill actually has everything except the Cobra inner control arm bushings in stock. He told me he would match pricing. It all boils down to the bottom dollar for me

That pretty much sums it up.
