is it a kit that comes with 2 bushings for each side of the strut bar?

before the bar attaches to the frame the bushing is worn out. On the other side of the frame where the strut bar has a bushing and nut to hold it down the bushing looks 75% gone.

Do i need to order 2 or does a kit come with both sides?

sorry to hijack the thread but i think the info outcome will help us both...

I think another technical name for the rod it is a "tension strut," but I mentioned that to the Ford place in town and got the blank stare.

You can get some cheap bushings at rockauto.com, but some people say they wear out fast. I never tried them so I don’t know.

In the service manual the bar is referred to as the front suspension lower arm strut. The bushing for the bar are called strut rod bushings, so I think it's safe to call the thing a strut rod.

I'll add my thanks for the info as well, as this is one of the areas of my front suspension that needs to be addressed before my '92 can be inspected.

Why not buy Moog? Don't put a wrench on the flat part of the strut rod. The service manual says not to. I don't know why. It is just a bad thing to do. If you put a wrench on the ends of the flat areas you are ok. Not in the middle of it. Where do those part numbers go? Which dealer or store?

the moog material is thermoplastic and not very stable. I have been through 3 moog bushings in the past 4 years. Also, there are susceptible to petrochemical breakdown, if you have a minor trans line or PS leak, the mercon will eat the bushing in no time.

O.K. so where do I get them at? I'd like some polyurethane ones. I think the OEM ones will work. The bushing on the passenger side it good. The driver side bushing had deteriorated. It is OEM I believe.

Don't be HATEING! /sarcasm

I mean just because there crappy bushings is no reason to be hateing! You know i'm so sick and tired of hearing that corny phrase when you point anything negative out to some people. lol

The manual says...

Quote:
CAUTION: Do not hold front suspension lower arm strut (3468) or damage surface in area shown. Hold front suspension lower arm strut on flats with wrench. Remove front sub-frame retaining nut.
the area they warn not to damage is the immediate area around the bend in the strut rod. My assumption when I read that awhile ago was that this is an easily weakened spot if mishandled and the strut rod is a critical front suspension component. Thus the warning not to beat it all up like a caveman with your wrench.

You can get the TRW brand at Advance Auto. I replaced all my front end with TRW bushings. The bird rides super smooth now.
