Would love to help myself, but I don't know a thing about engine internals, and I'm having transmission and (now) brake issues with my own car. Good luck!

do you see dots or dimples near a tooth on the cams? thats a timing mark

the keyway is actually the timing mark on the crank, we lined everything up with the keyway @ 6 0'clock i think and everything slides on using the keyway anyway

James the crank keyway has to be at 10:30 or so, the timing mark needs to be at 6:00................

Smile

I got it thanks for all the help.....after timing it I turned the motor by hand it turned smooth without any interference.

Just one question though when I put the chain tensioner on the passenger side the cam did not put tension on the chain yet, was that because there was no oil in it as it was drained out when I compressed it to get it out. Will the chain tensioners automatically put the correct tension back on the chain?

Will finish up putting it back together tonight and fire it up...cross your fingers...I am a bit nervous.

Jerry

I got it back together but I do not think the chain tensionors have moved enough as I have chain noise I drove it some this morning and it seems to be better but you can still here the rattle.

Any ideas?

Car is running great except for the rattle.

I am going to take it all apart again(will be a pro soon) and look at the tensioners and guides and see what was not working. It maybe that the tensioners oil holes are clogged and that may fix it....but just alot of work to have to do again when I did not know to give them a good looking over the first time.

Car is running strong though...just have the chain noise.

use a small blade screwdriver and just make sure the tensioners are fully extended

Crap had another set back Monday night on the way home I blew the heater core bypass hose and sent antifreeze everywhere and the car got hot about 210 on the gauge...I replaced the hose and now I have a miss under laod and over 1K RPM...every time this 4.6 get water or any fluids on top of the motor this happens....do spark plug wires go back if antifreeze hits them? Or is it just the plugs got to hot and have to be replaced as I have done more times to this 4.6 than all the other cars I have owned.
