I replaced the fender & the hood, but can't get it to latch
Well, I disassembled the T-bird today, but had some trouble putting it back together.
I first started by removing the black fender liners on both sides after I jacked the car up and removed the tires. Once that was done I removed the hood, and the corner lights. I then started to remove the bumper cover, but couldn't do it. I can't figure out how to remove those 3 rivets (?) on the top of the front bumper cover. Well, given that problem, I couldn't do the header panel and the light.
I then decided to go ahead and remove the damaged fender, and replaced that; no problems. (I actually have a working power antenna now since the replacement fender still had one attached to it). Installed the replacement hood, and, reattached the bumper cover, and everything else, lowered the car off the jackstands, and began aligning the hood.
I CAN'T FOR THE LIFE OF ME GET IT TO LATCH. I don't know why I can't, but it's a *****; I may have even bent the latch, but I can't tell for sure. I think I'll be letting the body shop align it properly when I take it to get it painted. I'll just tie the hood down while I drive it to the body shop. I'll have them do my light and header panel also, unless someone here can give me a tip on how to do it myself. I can't imagine them charging me more than 2 hours of labor for the header panel and light.
