Thanks Joe.

It always pisses me off when someone tells me "Happy Memorial Day" (Like the female DJ I heard on the radio yesterday) wishing everyone a "Happy Memorial Day weekend".

Few people truly understand the meaning of the day and think it's more about being out of school, auto racing and backyard cookouts. Memorial day, by it's very name, is a day to remember and Memorialize our war dead.

The modern equivalent of wishing someone "Happy Memorial Day" would be to say "Happy 9-11" and we all know how offensive that sounds.

Check out this great slide show. Slides 4, 5 and 10 are my favorites.
